What's the go with training or a practice area? Is there something similar to the FIFA menu where you can just take shots on goal and stuff around?

Definably been hoping something like this comes into the game if not in this version then in subsequent ones.

Would like something like this actually now that you mention it.

One thing even though it's fairly minor is actually quite fun. Would be good if that could work into some sort of free-for-all training system as well as FIFA has now implemented.

But I wouldn't mind something where you start off at a training ground to have a few kicks and such (maybe have an AI player with you for some kick to kick, handpass to handpass, etc.) and then hit the start button to bring up a menu.

The single player practice was good in NBA Live as well. All you'd need is goal posts but have the setting somewhere like Punt Rd or some shoddy suburban setting, so it actually feels like training.

Would be cool to have State of Origin implemented in some fashion for career mode even though it has become unfeasible in the real AFL.

We know that the NRL game will have SoO simply due to the massive success it has in that league... I suppose I really just miss having state games.

Big fan of practice arenas in games, would be a pretty awesome if it were in this game but Im not sure how hard it is to implement.

Also, will their be a Roster/Team Management option in this game like their are in other sports titles? By this I mean can we change up/update the teams in the game? For instance, Fev going from Carlton to Brissy was pretty big and if something the magnitude of that were to happen next season would we be able to switch a player between teams accordingly?

Sorry If I wasn't clear enough, again thank you for all the info thus far:thumbsu:

I like the practise arena concept. If it's too late to add in it for this one then hopefully the second interation.

I think that the FIFA-esque training option has been the best suggestion in this thread thus far
With the FIFA mode, you press the right directional button, and you get a directional free kick. Could work with AFL and goal kicking
If this game had something like that in it then the release date would be a messy one in my house.

You have IBS too?
I believe he has ghosts. In fact I'm willing to bet the reports of ghosts in people's houses will rise by about 2000% when we get the announcement of a release date.;)

wondering if there will be an option to play twilight matches? and I'm assuming you'll only be able to play day games at Manuka (If it's in), Aurora and Skilled.

Oh well hello there.

I noticed there's an article attached to this. It looks similar to one that was in one of the earlier AFL Game threads, but I can't be sure so here it is for anyone who missed it:

http://www.theage.com.au/news/digit...otball-accuracy/2009/03/24/1237656928773.html

As footy fans prepare for a new season, a local games developer is working on a better simulation of the sport.

Creating AFL games is notoriously difficult. Replicating the speed and athleticism of Australian Rules football is very tough, and the many players on the field make the task even more difficult.

Worse still, AFL has a small audience compared to sports such as soccer which have huge, worldwide fan bases. So developers of AFL games have only a fraction of the budget of blockbuster video games such as FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer.

Undaunted by the challenge, Melbourne's Big Ant Studios hopes to release its first AFL game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in time for the 2010 season. Chief executive Ross Symons is confident the game will be far superior to anything seen before, with a focus on the kind of fast-paced action that thrills footy fans.

Hey Ross,

Not sure if this as been answered (or if you can answer it), but do players have the ability to smother a kick as opposed to tackling? (if so will this be a button option or an AI decision)

And will players be able to baulk/dummy kicks & handballs etc similar to fifa 10. This would be sensational if you could.

Thanks heaps for all the info already provided, really appreciate it.

I could be wrong but if people read between the lines and take notices of things Ross has said they would have a fair assumption that this game will be out sooner rather than later

The last comment about the new Sydney side is a bit of a give away I feel. If this game is not released until 2011, and with the talk of follow up content, plus that when the new side comes in 2012, we should be talking about the 2nd game, it would make the follow up downloadable content pointless.

Game comes out between now say Xmas, which you would just assume September? follow up content throughout the off season(trades, delistings, new draftees) or perhaps the start of the new season, and then by the end of that season they would be well on the way to making game 2?

Big ant Studios have the contract for four or five afl games and two wont be realized in the same year. it will be like fifa one year after the last release date. the reason this has taken so long is because they started from scratch

Would love this :thumbsu:
