Take a step back Kerrby: if someone told you that you'd be able to play an AFL game online about a month ago you probably would've laughed in their face! It's still a win.

There will be a player creator.

Hi Ross, can you expand on this at all and tell me whether there is a create a team mode as well, i.e. create a name, select colours, jumper design and home ground etc?

This would be cool as i could finally see a Tasmanian team in the AFL lol!!!

Lynchy, that's all well and good mate, but you fail to give a reason as to why Big Ant would release two games in the one month (September). I don't really care when it's released and I have no problem waiting until next year or waiting another month. You make some good points but It's not hard to update player stats next year, players won't really change how they look between now and then, and new players are easily able to be created by March 2011.

They all seem minor problems, and despite some people's claims, the game doesn't have anywhere near the hype people are saying it does. As Ross says this site and BigAnt's site are the only 2 sites with anything about this game on them.

So not being negative, if you read my posts throughout this thread you'll see I've shown my excitement for this game and told Ross and the BigAnt crew what a great job they have been doing and that I truly believe this game may break the Australian sales record for a football video game, and I believe Ross and the crew have similar aspirations.

This will not be achieved by releasing the game at the same time as another game by the company. Both will take sales from each other no doubt, and I have a feeling that's the most important thing to Tru Blu and every publisher out there - sales. Big Ant's site still says 2010, this is why I said there is still a chance of a release this year (maybe September but more likely christmas) but IMO (and that's all it is) next year around February/March when hype is building for the new season.

Finals time this year would make perfect sense if it wasn't for the fact Big Ant already has another game coming out at that time. Either way who cares dude, I hope you are right cos I want an AFL game pronto!

The AFL game that came out on the original XBOX you could play online. I tried it and never found anyone to play against.

Really???????????? Damn I take that back then - honestly can't remember seeing that option anywhere.

Well not exactly, seeing how far online gaming has come.

I mean 256 FPS online battles with MAG or in FIFA online where the team has an individual player, those are coffee spitting moments.

2 player online, that's not exactly revolutionary :D.

It's revolutionary for an AFL game Kerrby!! At least for me . I admit those 10 v 10 FIFA games are crazy though (pretty much everyone pushing forward, and the celebrations by everyone after a goal are hilarious. The lag was way too unbearable though..)

And yeah Ant_, I was on the ol' Xbox back in the day too. I didn't have a Live account or anything though. Either way, at least with this game there's gonna be some kind of community to organise games/leagues with (man I sound like a nerd right now).

Ahh you missed out on Halo 2 then. :p

That game had the worst network code ever. I played a game on Xbox Live back in the day against a friend in WA and the gameplay (What I was seeing and what he was seeing) and scoreboard didn't even match up for some reason.

We were so confused we completely gave up with it.

Looks like I didn't miss much. Ended up trading that game in as part of a deal when I got my 360 Elite

Hey mate could you tell me if anythings been said on weather you could play 2 players on one system, not online

All in the sticky thread about weather and online. You can have up 7 on ps3 and 4 on xbox local

It's been known pretty much since the game was announced that there would be online.

I believe that one of (might've been the same) title had online on the PS2 as well (or at least 2005 did I think).

Not that I ever knew what the hell online was like, I didn't even know how to connect my system to online back then.

Yeah, I mean it's awesome to think there can still be 4 vs 4 or 7 vs 1, but I would've liked 1, 1, 1, 1 vs 1, 1, 1, 1 as that would've provided epic moments.:(

I just feel they would be missing out if they did not release in finals time this season, all the work they have done on modeling players, would go to waste because if they waited for next years lists, that means 100 odd new players to add, and what Ross has said before, it takes around 5 days per player for artwork on modeling them.

Just means that if they leave it until next season they either have outdated squads to start with, or the game is delayed because of adding new players etc, it just seems logical that everything they has said adds up to a 2010 release, the game comes out now, they release a patch/support it during the off season with rosters/stats, and then the 2nd version of the game comes out around the same time next season with new club/new players?

It will be interesting to see just how much depth is in the game, player wise, whether we have a "realistic draft pool of names " to draft from at the end of seasons, and whether or not any player that we create can go into "free agency/draft pool" rather than assigning them to a team.

As Ant_ says 7 players on one PS3. 4 players on one Xbox.

The online issues are that our Broadband in Oz is not great and we have a large field with the camera pulled back with 18 players per side with no off-side rule. Wish it was different but that means that two boxes is the limit, but it still is a total of 8 players.

In any case, the MS/PS3 stats show there is only a very small percentage of sports titles that are played with more than two boxes connected.

I honestly dont see what the big deal is, whats the point playing sports games online?

I don't play online, but I can see why others do, there is only so much of playing AI that you can go through, and if you can't always have your mates/family etc to play against then why not play against other people over the country/world

It's probably been asked, but will there be some sort of mission mode ala AFL Premiership 06/07?

It would be awesome to reenact the comeback game or change history like winning back to back flags with the Swans in 05/06.

It allows you to beat up on Collingwood and Essendon supporters but not have to be in the same room as them :)

PS: I hope I end up being really good at the game otherwise it's going to be quite embarrassing :)
