I have no idea why Tru Blu haven't announced who the developer is yet, pretty ordinary.

I do think Ross has given us a major hint on who it is though, when there was speculation that it was Sidhe he was very quick to say that's not the case, but hasn't (that I've seen) done the same for Wicked Witch.

no. people dont wanna be nba elite ;)

I remember watching a control demo for that. The guy was moving Kevin Durant around the court and was incredibly excited. Poor developer :(

Ross, can you answer whether this game will be based on (and built on) the game code that BigAnt wrote for AFL Live? or do you guys own it and this is different code?

To answer some of above, it is not developed by Tru Blu internally, none of the Big Ant Studios technology was used in AFL Live 2.

OK, let's get 3 things straight.

1. Nothing about any of this sounds remotely "awesome" at all.

2. TruBlu not announcing the developer has people assuming that it will once again be BigAnt. That's no accident.

3. The developer will be 110% Wicked Witch and the game will be 110% mediocre.

Ross, I appreciate that you probably have some form of relationship with WW after spending some time with them during the development of AFL Live/AFL Wii, so props for trying to put a positive spin on what must be a very frustrating time.

It seems as if they have added in a lot of things that people wanted. The Career mode is great. Would have liked for it to have been more than 15 years but can't complain too much as they have actually included one. Really excited for this. :D

But I wanted those additional features to be built onto AFL Live.

Those features aren't worth anything if the gameplay is crap and it looks like shit. AFL Live wasn't fantastic, of course, but I found it fun enough to play and felt that, in terms of gameplay, it was the best AFL game we've ever had. I was hoping Big Ant would develop the sequel, so they could continue to tweak that game engine, improve the graphics, and add in the features we were pining for.

I'm afraid that another develop will just try to cash in without putting any effort into the actual gameplay. The career mode and TAC Cup stuff sounds cool in theory, but if the game itself is terrible, the allure of those things will wear of pretty quickly.

I mean, it could still turn out okay, but I'm currently pretty disappointed that we won't be able to see what BA could've made of the franchise.

Remember how, back to when the first AFL Live was in development, Ross said that they had to forgo certain features, such as an extensive career mode, as their priority was a solid core gameplay experience, and devoting resources to those "extras" would result in a sub-par product?

AFL Live 2 is being developed in one of two ways; either completely from scratch, or based on an existing engine that isn't BigAnt's, read: Wicked Witch's Wii engine. Either way, a LOT of work would have been required to bring either of those up to par, yet time has been allocated to create this 15 year career mode that would appear to be rather in-depth.

So, to those people who aren't yet on the pessimistic bandwagon, if the head of a proven development studio expected doing such a thing would mean a game would not be worth releasing, then I highly doubt that a developer that has a poor track record will be able to do anything remotely better, or even equitable, for that matter.

This is just one of many reasons why this game will, most probably, be terrible. Until Tru Blu decides to release information (lol, who am I kidding, it's Tru Blu we're talking here) that might prove otherwise, there's no reason to believe anything different.

Ross may correct me but I'm pretty sure they are not using anything from the previous release as this is Bigants! Hopefully Ross and the term work on an unlicensed version as with there cricket game!

Maybe so, but you can't tell me you won't still buy it? You appear to be one of the most staunch supporters of AFL video games

I truly believe that it won't be as good as Big Ant's foray into making an AFL title, so I will have to answer that with a "no", which is the reason why I'm very annoyed by this switch of developers; I was greatly looking forward to another decent AFL game, but now I doubt I'll get it even after waiting so long.

I will say, though, that if I'm wrong, and this is actually a decent game, then I'll buy it. I just doubt that this will be the case.

Assuming AFL2 ends up being shit, how do we as consumers get the point across that we want BigAnt back behind AFL games?
If we vote with our feet and either a) don't buy AFL 2, or b) only buy it pre-owned, would TruBlu read the drop in sales as proof that BigAnt's is superior? Or would they pull the wool over their own eyes and go with the ever faithful "Poor sales mean there's no market for AFL games."

After the success of AFL Live 1 and after hearing what AFL fans want in the game - I doubt very highly that AFL Live 2 will go backwards - it will improve.

If enough people told Tru Blu to bring back Big Ant for AFL Live 3 on their Facebook and Twitter I think they'd get the idea.
From what Ross was saying, Big Ant was their preferred option anyway so it could happen.

It won't improve though. It's going to be a completely different game.
And if it's a sequel to AFL Wii (which looks likely), the question is whether they can make it better than AFL Live (which looks unlikely).

But if nobody buys it, how will there be pre owned? :o

Who knows maybe tru blu hopes to bring big ant back and they just needed AFl Live 2 out in 2013, you'd think now big at have built cricket 14 that they'd be able to get each title out 2 years after the previous iteration in that franchise( correct me if that's wrong) and maybe tru blu hopes to alternate between WW and Big Ant which I wouldn't be totally against if it gets us Big Ant back. If all else fails what about Big Ant presents "International Rules Live" ?

That would be a top idea it gives the company more time to make a better product for there next version and fans don't miss out every year they get something different but similar I love it.
