But I wasn't expecting that to come out of such a respected individual.

I get called lots of things, haven't seen "respected" in the list too often :)

I'm sure the egotism of the publisher is different from mine, but hey, if I had to pay for everything and practically told the developer what to do, I think I might take all the chocolates. ;)

Say, for example, i pay builders to build me a house, does that mean that i built it?

Man, you really hate Wicked Witch's guts.

nah, Dan and I get along well, we also both sit as Vice Presidents of the GDAA.

Nothing here is serious, or at least should be taken seriously...

What don't I get? Yes it may come from the same franchise but it's a totally different console! If you honestly believe it takes 12-18 months JUST to port the damn thing, I can't make you see the light of the story. Considering features are all the same, the signs tell me that gameplay has been worked on and differentiated compared to the Wii version. Even a screenshot shows similar gameplay to AFL live.

The Wii may have it's good games but that honestly means shit all. I can guarantee that there has been shit games on the Wii that plays better on PS3/Xbox.

Also, have you seen an AFL on the Xbox/PS3 in the franchise that is shit? (by WW that is) No you haven't. The thing is, they haven't had a go at it before and before you say that's a bad thing, Big Ant were in the same scenario and did a great job.
What does it matter if they haven't brought out an AFL game on the XBOX or PS3? The facts are they have had chances to bring out good AFL games on other systems and have failed at doing so.

Again, if they are a good enough developer, the system that the game is being built for, means jack shit. They made a bad game and have made several bad AFL games, why hold out hope that their next effort is going to be any better just because it's on a different system? They couldn't do it right before, why do things change now? Poor game development is poor game development, regardless of PS3, Wii, 360, PC, iOS, Android, etc. etc. etc.

I never said it takes 12-18 months JUST to port the game from Wii to PS3/360, however, it does take a considerable amount of time that eats into what would be at most an 18 month development period. Attempting to right all the wrongs from that Wii version would be highly unlikely to a) Turn out well and b) Turn out well without a significant amount of bugs from lack of time to test and polish in that amount of time after porting the engine over.

There's far more to it than just engine ports for me, the entire philosophy that BigAnt had with risk vs reward being a major focus on gameplay mechanics is also probably the best thing I've seen implemented into a budget sports game in a long time and I was really excited at the prospect of that being expanded upon. I don't see WW taking that line, as they didn't with AFL Wii (and again, this feeds into the poor game development part - if BigAnt had've done the AFL Wii version with the same philosophies as AFL Live on PS3/360/PC, I would've expected the same good brand of gameplay as they had with the PS3/360/PC version).

I understand where you're coming from, trust me. I just don't agree. Like I said, each to their own.

Looking at the achievements, the game looks great. Hope that's the same with the gameplay.

not sure if this has been spoken about but has anyone that has played the wii version able to give some insight on to how realistic the trade system is

Player for player it is pretty reasonable, but there is something like morality that if that is anything around 50 percent or below they become a bargain. i got Murphy for a second round pick due to the morality being at 0. But they overpowered draft picks.

Hopefully they can incorporate the same type of trade system but without the draft pick or morality problem. There was also a salary cap restriction.

Oh and btw they had a three-way-trade system that feels awesome when all the teams finally come to agreement.

edit: grammar

It's interesting as it seems more realistic than the trade system in AFL 2007 although it has moments like the other day ( on the ipad version) I attempted to pick up Bootsma to Fremantle from Carlton and even though I offered them an equivalent player stats wise they were never happy until I offered 2 players and a late draft pick. The 3 team trade system is cool and I think the idea is basically replicated from NBA 2k ( even down to the menus)

Anyone know when they are going to put up some more screenshots

Nothing wrong with that, 2K did it well.

People always say they'd love EA to make a new AFL game but I always would've preferred 2K to do it. Their NBA is ridiculously good and their MLB while easily behind the Show is still very good and actually available in Australia. Imagine NBA 2K's my player mode made into an AFL game, would be insanely fun.

I am still not sure how well My Player would work in the AFL. In basketball and hockey you are one of five. Even in soccer it's one of 11. Being one of 18 is tricky...

It's got Bad Luck Brian written all over it. Drafted to AFL... Full forward at Melbourne.

Our full forward is icing up a broken foot all year :(

It'd be interesting to see how they'd try and create a my player in an AFL game. I'd assume you'd take control of the entire team on game day and try and give it to "your player" as much as you possibly can.. I'd just make myself as a midfielder and you'd be getting plenty of the ball anyhow

It's no different than getting drafted to the Bobcats as a centre, The Browns as a WR or QPR as a striker.

That's half the fun though.
