AFL Live 2

I am still not sure how well My Player would work in the AFL. In basketball and hockey you are one of five. Even in soccer it's one of 11. Being one of 18 is tricky...

I always view those game modes as add-on perks. Career mode is what most people buy the game for - get standard team gameplay right and a good career mode will improve the replay value of the game. Not dismissing your point, but getting a workable My Player mode is pretty far down on my priority list for AFL Live 2.

With connected careers in Madden 12, not too many people focused on the 'My Player' mode - it's usually all about the 'My Coach' mode.

On the topic of alternative game modes, it would be cool to have a Classic Moments play mode.

I.e. Round 3, 2013 Brisbane vs. Geelong game. Down by 38 points at 3 quarter time, win the game or replay the last half of the Saints vs Cats 2009 grand final, secure the win for St. Kilda to re-write history.

Looking at the gameplay trophies it seems this won't be included in AFL Live 2, but it would be cool for any future releases.

I reckon it would work, what's the lowest amount of disposals a player normally gets ? At least 5-10 I would imagine. Besides, most people would just run all over the field getting possies wherever possible aka Ablett if they are getting bored.

Camera behind the player and zoomed out a fair way so you could see your options downfield, and keep an eye on your opponent. Won't happen, but it would work.

I believe the achievement for AFL Live 2 relating to "my player" in career mode is just that you will have one created player in your team who needs to perform well, but you still control the whole team, not just that created player. I just about guarantee it actually.

Yeah that's where AFL Wii( iPad) became a little blurred as in career mode you play as a coach who controls the team as well as finances and memberships etc. but at the same time a player of the same name was added to the team list which seems kinda odd cause it's like the mode should be 2 seperate modes ( career and my player)

They had those in a previous game, maybe AFL Live 2004. Each team had a classic scenario and you could even create your own. One problem was that the teams were the modern teams though so it didn't feel real.

With the team and player creation options of AFL Live 1 I was hoping to come across some classic teams online. I once came across a Brisbane premiership team. They were awesome but realistically so and I loved the challenge. Most custom teams were just superpower CHFs and ruckman nicknamed "the human highlight reel"

I'm really happy with the things this new game has included

Yep those were AFL live 2004. Was always weird playing those historical games at Docklands

Or in AFL 2007 when you would play the 1963 grand final between Geelong and Richmond and Matthew Richardson and Cameron Mooney would be the CHF's.

They were pretty cool though. One of the games (could be the same one) had fictional ones too, of varying difficulties. So if you went up to the highest difficulty, it was something like make a 10 goal comeback.

Along that kind of line, a good mode for the next AFL game, would be something like GT5's Seasonal Events. Every week or so, they could upload a new scenario, and give rewards for completing it. Could be fictional, historical, or even something from the most recent weekend (like when Brisbane beat Geelong earlier this year.)

Well it looks obvious its made by Wicked Witch (They have done a good job with the graphics, hope gameplay is good). At least the banner should be in the game and hope...hope... the players actually run onto the ground to the club song. Something which AFL Live lacked (The banner), AFL Wii (the players going through the banner.)

In the first AFL Live, if you drew in a final, did it go into extra time or did you have to play a replay? I noticed the achievement "So Close Yet So Far" has overtime?

Doesn't the NAB Cup have some kind of overtime rule?

I'd be interested if in single game mode there is an option for overtime after a draw

It did back in the day when it was a knockout competition, but I'm not too sure about these days where they play a series of matches and then the top 2 play the final. Obviously the final would have extra time, but then if that was the only match to have it, then wouldn't they just say that ?

Oh, I dunno. I'm just riffing on possibilities. Here's something I pulled off of Wikipedia, do with it as you will.

"In Australian rules football, extra time is played only in finals matches. Two extra time periods lasting five minutes each (plus time on) are played. The only exception is the AFL Grand Final, which is decided by a full replay if the match is drawn; extra time is played if the replay is also drawn."

Or you could play as norF and you cant lose the match starting with a 10 goal lead

Yeah, it didn't need to be a draw - everyone kept playing until Collingwood lost :)

I would also like to see that we can unlock AFL teams from the 80s and 90s so we can play with legends like Ablett, Lockett, Williams and Long. Just like NBA 2k 2013
It will never happen.

Retired players have to be sought out and individually licensed, when they don't provide the same marketing potential as MJ for NBA 2K then it's simply not worth going to the hassle of getting the license for those players to put them in the game.

All games need are robust player creators so you can make as many legend teams as you want. It also helps having the ability to easily share players so you don't have to do all of the work yourself.
