Also, is there any way to manage interchanges without using the quick interchange interface? I just can't master it during the speed of the game. No time to take my eyes off a live game for 10 seconds while I make an interchange. I've had a quick look in the Team Management option of the pause screen but I can't see interchanges. Have I just overlooked it?

Not a bad game given obvious budget restrictions. Graphics are good, navigation menu's are crisp and I like set shots at goal etc.

There's too much tackling and congestion though.

Played my first online game before and won about 7-8 goals.

considering my season is stuffed by the bug I went online and apart from 2 clowns quitting on me when I was up, I found it awesome compared to playing against the AI, had 5 full games and am 4-1, so much better to play online and lag free which is a bonus. Just a quick question I honestly havent looked into it, but has anyone used the sub? I dont recall seeing them come on during the game
now back for more badges, they're racking up now!
bcurrall10 on PSN is you're up for a game

Yeah you must have, It's in team management. click on team lineup (first one).
I think it's best to move across sections till the "all" part comes up... They will be placed from defence to foward and bench at the bottom. click on one player, then click on another to switch them. That easy
The team lineup screen was bit hard to reckonise what was going on. But after a while, it's pretty simple.

Not sure if mentioned in this thread, but anyway, I'm noticing a lot that players don't get much support from their teammates when they get the ball, especially when tackled. Usually end up just handballing to space or getting pinged/ball up.

And the opposition seem to always be alone in acres of space. Dunno if it's just me having to get used to the game or what. Playing on Rookie level BTW.

Thanks. I looked through the "all" section earlier and thought it ended with the forwards. I'll have another go when I play it in a few minutes. :thumbsu:

been playing since Sat (one of the lucky ones in perth) and have found it to be a fairly good game. am not online but i expect human opposition to be more enjoyable than the AI. lots of congestion, ball up after ball up after ball up. have had some really cool plays, great goals and a few specky marks (not too many at all like previous AFL games).

I find the bench just runs itself, the game is too hectic to be making your own changes.

the easy settings are WAY too easy. after getting the basic controls, you basically go straight past amateur, rookie and professional to Veteran, there is only Legend left after that.

i was about to lose my first game, which was good as up until then it was too easy, when the game just froze on me (xbox). very annoying - hope it doesnt become a regular thing.

still, great to have an afl game, thanks big ant, and look forward to going online soon.

i just got this game tonight and found it pretty hard to begin with, is it just me or are the controls confusing? Or does it become easier with time. I mean 9 out of 10 of my kicks dont go to anyone and handballs go everywhere and it seems like tackle mania...

I really hate the team selection menu. I wish you could move players around the map of the ground that shows the team line-up before each game. Would be much more user-friendly, and it's really quite baffling why they didn't do it this way.

You can't see the stats after a game can you?

The stat leaders (most goals and most disposals only) and the team stats, yes. But no individual stats. Basically the same as what you see after a real game of footy on TV.

yeah it just takes some time with the controls!! About 10 or so games in everything started clicking for me...hitting up targets easily..timing marks and spoils better...
Not getting tackled anywhere near as much...even had a five bounce down the wing goal!! It just gets better each game now...and i havent been online yet!!!

In the season mode you can see stats for individual players and their trend (getting better/worse) between games.

I love the game

The tackling is fine you just have to handball a lot at stoppages. When you work yourself into space, because you had to work for it, it's actually rewarding!

Also it's good you can't sprint away from every one and you have to handball yourself out of trouble - it's far more realistic, rewarding and enjoyable. HOWEVER, it seems as though the ball-carrier is always slower than the chaser, which isnt really accurate. They seem to close in slowly all the time. But that's just minor.

THANKS BIGANT :D

Hrmmmm...Just found a way to make the game a fair bit easier (not sure if that's the right word for it really). If you go into "Controller Settings" > "Controller Setup (Square button for PS3/X button for 360) > then change the "Player Select" option to Manual, you won't switch players automatically and therefore won't give away that split-second advantage to the opposition when you have to adjust your direction for the new player.

Trust me, give it a go....You'll either love it or hate it - I'm undecided - But either way you'll certainly notice a difference in all aspects of the gameplay.

This is EXACTLY RIGHT! :D

As soon as you start playing, all you do is get tackled and get nowwhere. Keep playing and playing and learning every match how it works and the controls, and you can create space, handball yourself out of stoppages and therefore give yourself some time to hit a target. You need to learn HOW to play the game, which takes a while, and you'll be tackled far less and enjoying far more

Real good stuff guys!:thumbsu:

I'm likeing it so far and am thinking of throwing myself in the deep end for season mode by going for that gold trophy
Difficulty: Legend
Length: 20 mins
Injuries: Extreme

Played a single game before Essendon V Collingwood on Legend and won (by 1 goal;)) so maybe I'll do alright?
