hey guys haven't been on here in a while and cant be bother looking back into part 22 but is it possible to change ai difficulty during a season i cant do it also my auto interchange always puts jack Anthony in the middle how can i stop this

PSN isn't live in Japan.

The Developer Network version of PSN is not up yet... that would have to come up first before the retail/public version.

The triple J guys are playing AFL Live on air this afternoon. Tom Rockliff is going to be in the studio versing one of them.

I should give them a call, I'll certainly tune in now to listen :)

Just got the "walk into my office" badeg. For beating a bigant employee or someone who has beaten a big bigant employee. Guy wasn't overly good, was playing with a fully customised team though, players names like "Bonecrusher" and "Velvet shoecrusher". :p
 
just saw the wii game play trailer actually looks pretty good apart from the graphics
 
Man I love this game :D.

I normally beat the AI on legend by 4+ goals so am looking forward to the difficulty bump in the patch, but for now I've just been trying out some different tactics and using little rules to make the games a bit closer (just things like not punching the ball in the ruck as much and using different amounts of kicking power when having a set shot on goal, rather than doing a full powered kick like I normally do as I have become used to the 'arc' of a full powered kick now).

So it's 38 pts each to the Hawks (me) and the Tigers (AI) at 3 qtr time and I'm really struggling for some reason. Can't seem to take a grab as the the Richmond defenders are spoiling better than usual. I see the stats and notice that Hodge isn't in the top possession winners even though he has been playing in the middle. Foley, his opponent, is the leading possession winner on the ground. Burgoyne is being played in a forward pocket and flank as a bit of an experiment and has 4 goals to his name so far, so although a risk, I decide to swap him into the middle for Hodge who goes onto a forward flank.

Result - Burgoyne keeps Foley to one possession in the last whilst kicking inside 50 himself probably 4-5 times (damn no stats!) to Hodge who boots 3 final term goals. Won the game by 20 pts...It's really cool how a few positional changes can turn the tide of the game and feel so rewarding, much like in the real stuff. :thumbsu:

So have you sent it off to Sony also? Or do you have to wait until PSN is back up to test it etc?

Is there a "suggested improvements and ideas for AFL LIVE 2012" (or something similar) thread yet? I understand it's very early days... But I saw Ross posted something about their developments for the footy factory or player creator for the next edition are already awesome - so I guess the earlier we all suggest REALISTIC stuff to these guys the longer they'll have to work on them if they choose?
Sorry if there already is an obvious thread... I only joined up to bigfooty today..

Great game. I do have some ideas for future games in the series, but this is a superb first effort. The stuff that is wrong with it is overshadowed by the good stuff, rather than the other way around.

Patch is looking the goods so can't wait for it on PS3.

We have to test functionality on PSN Development Network (Dev Net) before we can submit it, Dev Net is still down too.
 
Just to touch on the stats thing

I played a local game with a mate and he had all the good players over $400,000 and I had all the crap players under $155,000 (didn't bother with postions lol)

I could notice straight away that he could run faster, mark better, always won the ruck, but because I was a better player, I was able to hustle alot and scrap goals through, it was sloppy but I won the game on 5 min qs pro

I was extremely disapointed that there is no flooding in the game and that you cant push numbers back in the game. I don't understand why you guys wouldn't implement that tactic/gamestyle that is so common in our game. AFL 2007 on ps2 let you flood and helped me win alot of games. Also is there any chance flooding would be implemented in the next patch?

When playing online is it 3 min or 5 min quarters? It feels like its 3min which is far too quick. You should be able to customise your own match like duration, stadium, conditions, etc in private match online. Also you should have at least 5 min not 1 min to select your squad members beofore the match. You should also be able to pause the game and have a 5 minute time limit online.

Are we gonna still be able to spoil with the right anolog stick when the patch is implemented? Cause i heard the right anolog stick is gonna be used for bumping now. The problem is L2 and traingle doesn't spoil it in the direction you intend it to while the right analog stick works perfectly fine.

Good to hear!

Hoping that you guys keep patching this game. As I think with good updates it could become 100x better than it is now.

Issues like gaining control of players, and the AI of your team, and so forth truly make the game frustrating IMO. Hopefully these sort of things gain your attention ^^

I'd also add that the way players move after you select them is quite inconsistent. This is true of almost all sport games, but its particularly bad in the case of AFL live IMO. With players sometimes running in a line when you select them, ignoring what you tell them to do. And sometimes standing still while your pointing the stick somewhere, they even run the other way on occasion. It can get pretty frustrating.

Right stick will jostle/bump, L2 + triangle is spoil, L2 + right stick is directional spoil.

So how will that work? Will we need to move the right stick to jostle then Y to mark, or will the marking part be done automatically once you move the right stick? Also, will we be moving the right stick towards the opposition player (as if you were bumping) or away from them (in the direction you wish to open up for the mark)?

It would be the right stick to jostle and (combined with L2/LT) spoil and Triangle/Y will mark.

Wow, noooooooo.

Can you imagine a 5 minute online pause time? It would be ridiculously exploited.

If I was down by 5-10 goals and knew I was out of it, I'd just pause the game and test out if the other person is willing to wait the whole 5 minutes. There'd be a fair chance of them quitting with that time of a time limit.

30 seconds to a minute is the most you should ever offer.
 
playing online, i finally got my fast internet back again so it doesnt lag, i just played against Essendon 5 minutes ago and it was 8-0 in the first quarter and he quit :\ maybe i should take it easy till the last quarter.
 
One thing I have noticed. I have played 3 Custom seasons. The time of day for the first one was day matches only, no night matches. The second season was all night matches, no day matches. The 3rd is all night matches no day matches. It would be nice if there were 3 or 4 night games and the rest day. Mix it up a bit.

No one else mentioned this. Thought it might be of some interest to Ross and the team.

It's unfortunate but these are the sorts of things that we have to think about.

Antony won an online world cup in FIFA that tooks ages, he was 1 - 1 in the final and as was about to score to go up 2 - 1 with seconds left, the game froze, and this would be just seen as a bug and so you just have to wear it, however it was the fifth time this sort of thing happened in the final. I had him keep the console turned on, waiting for the other guy to quit (by disconnecting) - it was an hour later before the guy quit.

People will find crashes or ways to induce wins by any means possible, even if it costs them hours of their lives... It's very hard to get into the minds of the minority that will cheat given any opportunity and it is hard to understand the depths they will go.

For example, the patch will reward winners and discredit quitters, but I don't think we can eradicate them - some people think screwing your gaming experience is a fun pastime....
