You could setup Aus live account and download it?
Tried that. I got as far as linking paypal to an aus account, adding points and hitting purchase....it still failed and automatically refunded my pts back to my paypal account in the morning. Crazy that you can't purchase software for the PC on the internet. Frustrating to say the least.

I'm pumped for if there is going to be an AFL 2013 :D
Hoping for a Vita version because it'll give me an excuse to buy one. Although Vita sales aren't exactly going too well at the moment :(

Hi does anyone know how I save players in one position for online games. Everytime I log into play online everyone resets to being out of position (e.g. ruckman starting at CHB and back pocket starting at ruck etc.) even though I only have one specialist per position in my squad.. And then I never get enough time to move players around ..
Thanks

Hi all, with the season starting soon, I've been getting back into AFL Live.

Online sucks these days but there are still some 'gentleman of the game'.

Never been in a league before, keen to be in a good one. Figured the best way is to run it myself.

This will be good and I am committed to seeing it through.

The league will have set rules and guidelines managed through Facebook, mainly because it's the easiest way to update stuff. You can create an alternate username to protect you're real identity if you wish.

It's first in best dressed, one player to a team. So 18 players. Only team taken so far is Essendon (me).

Only serious players welcome.. this will be pretty realistic in the way it's presented.

Please read the rules and policies document when you visit the site.

Hope to see some of you there.

Sorry I can't resist posting this - gotta love the JB Hifi staff!

The topic of difficulty came up on the discussion thread for Big Ant Cricket on Planet Cricket (http://www.planetcricket.net/forums/big-ant-cricket/big-ant-cricket-q-thread-81757.html).

I used AFL as an example of a game being too easy, and Ross basically said that the majority of players didn't find it too easy implying that it's fine as is. I'm not sure what the % of users on here that find the game too easy is, but it sounds like there won't be any efforts to make it much harder for the next version

I just don't understand why you would knowingly make the hardest difficulty too easy for some players. Surely those less skilled could just choose a lower difficulty. No logic at all.

The fact is...it isn't too easy!!!

I played the game religiously and I still took my time to start being convincing on Legend.

I still get the games where I need a good third term or final quarter to get over the line, and FACT is...I can honestly say I am probably in the top 1% players of this game.

The problem with making it harder, is that the game will become incredibly unrealistic. The opposition will still score over 100, sometimes 120 against me (in 10 min quarters, for realistic stats and scoring etc). If the opposition was harder, and I won for example, the score would be 160-180 wouldn't it?

The opposition still has 3 kicks and then a kick for goal on Legend. The disposals per score is incredibly unrealistic for an opposition. Imagine if it was on a harder level.

THERE ARE ONLY THREE RESOLUTIONS:
1) Play realistic (i.e. No clearance kick mark goal...play like real-life...clearance, handball, look wide, chip around, goal from the hardest position on the ground and share the ball)

2) Don't bump and Stand the Mark properly (no bumping when running for a loose ball, and don't run away from the oppositions set shot and run back to smother/knock the ball)...we all do it. If we didn't, the opposition would be incredibly hard to beat...and therefore...the difficulty level would be spot on.

3) Play a season with Team A....and then make Teams B , C , D , E , F , G , H etc.... 22 best players reach the salary cap of $6.5 million by manipulating figures in Footy Factories player database player editor.

Sick of people bitching about how easy the game is...it's not hard to make it harder.

1 - I play realistic, still too easy. Occasionally the AI will string together 3 kick goals, but more often than not this isn't the case. It's too easy to anticipate what they are going to do with the ball, and you gain control of the required defender and spoil. Only rarely does the AI kick the ball to advantage where there's nothing you can do to stop the mark.

2 - I don't bump, and you can't smother the ball by running back if you have the patch installed. You can run back and entice them to play on, then turn around at a point where the AI is too slow to react and you effect the kick or lay the tackle. But I don't do this either, I see these as exploits and obviously using these will cause the game to become unfairly tilted towards you.

3 - I dunno what you mean.

The fact is, the game is too easy. It could be made harder without making it higher scoring. For one, the AI defending needs to be improved. They need to peel off and defend the loose player instead of just running at the guy with the ball. You get one player in space and you can pretty much run the field linking up handball chains, with each AI defender peeling off his man to attack the guy with the ball.

You could also make the AI flood the back line at times, creating congestion where it is very hard to get a clear kick. They'd also then need to learn how to clear it out of defence after the flood, not just boot it into the player's hands.

These are 2 easily implemented things that could make it a whole lot more fun. I'm not complaining about the old version, just suggesting that the new version should be harder. And anyone who says the opposition flooding would make it boring (I've seen this said before), you're an idiot. That's equivalent of saying FIFA should prevent midfielders from running back to defend when you attack. Realism makes sport games good, it's a fact.

Well said...

The ability to edit an oppositions tactics in season probably won't happen...because at the end of the day, if you are losing, you are probably going to adjust to help you get over the line...but realistic opposition tactics need to be deployed.

I haven't taken too much notice, but 'realism' opposition plays like NBA 2K for example would be great. (Play the way the team plays in real-life, i.e. West Coast rolling zone; Collingwood fwd pressure; Sydney stoppage footy etc) would make it alot harder week to week to CRACK the gameplan.

My tactics are attacking forward, midfield, and the real winner IMO is the attacking defence playing in front. However, that might work for playing against Team A, but come against Team B next week...the structure is completely different, and you will need Gameplan No.2 etc. and makes you keep guessing.

As for the bit you didn't understand...pretty much edit each teams players overall (raise to max for key players who you know are going to be in their starting 22). It will add to the difficulty level. I haven't done it, but know it can be done. I remember AFL 99 i used to make the team I was playing 99 and me like 29 in the ratings and really made it harder...then again I was 12 and probably a better gamer back then haha

Yeah, I hate the tactics in this game. "Attacking" option for midfield and ruckmen just make them run forward and stand at the 50 metre arc once the ball is in play. If you win the clearance, you basically kick a goal every time. I actually adjust the tactics to prevent myself gaining an advantage. Balanced tends to be pretty fair.

I wouldn't want to be able to edit the opposition team's tactics, but yeah as you say it'd be nice to be challenged on a tactical level week to week. Hopefully the new version after 2 years will improve on a lot of these things.

I may be delusional but I have a quick question:
I swear this game has career mode, as in after a season you can go through the trade process etc and continue into the next year. I can't find a career mode menu, and the AFL Season doesn't do that.

However, like I said I am sure there was.. I'm either blind, delusional (or both) or there just isn't and hasn't been career..

There isn't a career mode with trading or drafts. There's list management under Footy Factory. The Wii, iOS and soon Android title has career mode with drafts and trading.

Have to also agree the AI Is way way to easy. As has been said they are very predictable and easy to play against. Only way I can have a close game against the AI is if I change teams half way through and make a come back. Never play against the AI these days. Don't bump them, dont use cheap moves.

How can you say because some find it to hard that you won't increase it? Keep legendary as it is but add another higher difficulty for players that want tougher AI. Like someone said, if it's too hard, play a lower difficulty.

Online is brilliant when you come up against someone who hasn't maxed their teams
Out and don't play bump fest tactics. I'll win more often than not, but constant bumping gets quite tiresome.

I feel it's looking unlikely for a 2013 version from big ant. Maybe wicked witch? I never played their version though.
