AFL Live - How to fix Game Freeze in Season Mode

After the game every time. Had one in a goal replay but I don't feel this is related.

Did you sim the AI games first? The fix is to sim all the non playable games in the round then play your human controlled game.

Just played another game. Swapped all the Richmond starting players to the lower rated players, won and game froze. I don't think there is a way past here without the patch

tried simming other games first, all the advice here but no luck.

as Tigers, against Cats in Round 18.. finish the game, and BAM, it freezes every time. where tf is the patch?

Do you use the SIM all button? When I did it for the Dogs/West Coast freeze I simmed each AI game seperately in the round then played my match.

Started a new season, simmed through to round 18, simmed each game of round 18 individually and played Geelong-Richmond...froze at end again.

There is simply no way around this.

I simmed all. I cannot go back and try individual matches as I saved after simming the round.

The bold parts are the problem.

Known bug - In round 18 in a Richmond season, if you simulate the AI games first and then the game autosaves, it will freeze at the end of your match every time.

According to Ross (I think?), you must simulate the AI games for round 18 first, as you did, but then not let it autosave before you start your game. To do this, you must not stay on the screen where it shows who's playing who for too long. If you do stay on that screen for too long, then when you try to start your match, you'll notice the autosave symbol down the bottom right of screen just before you reach the 'controller select' screen.

So there's nothing you can do about your current season now until the patch is out. If you do choose to do another season, once you reach round 18, make sure to sim all AI games first and then quickly select to play your game. I reckon it's about 30 secs to a minute you can stay on that screen (with the current round's matches displayed) before it will autosave when you try to play your match.

There is a similar issue with Carlton in an earlier round, except it doesn't freeze if it autosaves after simming the AI matches. This specific freeze you guys are having only happens with Richmond and only in round 18.

HBK has the exact same problem if I recall. He, or Ross, may be able to verify this if they read it.

If you do try again and follow my instructions, let us know how you go.

Not so sure. I simmed up to this round today without leaving the game, no saving or autosaving and still got this bug. I don't think there is a way around it without the patch

I've played at least 3-4 games in row following some of the points illnino made and I've yet to have the game freeze on me before, after or during.
:thumbsu:

I've also played about 6 games since following the instructions and it hasn't froze with the exception of once when I left it on pause for a while... thumbs up dude... now where this patch at?

It's been confirmed that if you simulate all the AI games of the round before you play your game you will be fine.
Also, this was fixed in the first patch. Do you have that installed?

My plan for this game is to do what I have done with other AFL games, i.e. Play every game with every team, but sim quarters of each game.

I play each and every game of the season, but sim the 1st and last quarters, play as the home team in the second and the away team in the third. I usually play 10 min quarters, plus time-on.

I find that I end up getting a lot of realistic scores and margins.

Now, I am wondering, if I play every game, then will I still get the freezes? I read about simming games, but is that only if you play as one team?

If I play as every team, and sim quarters, rather than entire games, am I more or less likely to get freezes?

When we talk about the freezes, the simulating is when you choose to simulate all the AI matches from the main menu, before you enter a game.

For you to simulate a quarter, you'll have to enter the game as a controlled team, change the controllers to be both AI, watch the quarter, then change it back to play.

This is different from the out-of-game simulating. From the point of view of the simulating that this thread talks about, it's as though you're playing the full game.

You should be right to do what you say, but I doubt anyone here has tried it for a full season to find out.

Is there gonna be a patch for this bug? Been playing a season as Adelaide and think I've had 3 matches freeze up. Tried the 'simulate game' work around which has both worked and failed..... getting frustrating and is ruining an otherwise great AFL game. Latest freeze was round 21 V Lions..... so close to the end of the season!!

Does this happen with Custom Seasons at all?

I finally got around to playing this game last night.

Now, I did it the way I said I would, made no interchanges, and didn't sub (Game kept freezing soon after making my subs previously). I have the game set on auto interchange.

I watched and played the game, and it didn't freeze-first time!

So, I think that this is another way around the freeze.

If you don't want to play every game, and want to sim games, just pick both Geelong and Richmond as players for your season, but then, just sim the games of the team you don't want to do anyway. At Round 18, pick both sides, and play against a friend or against the game. You then get through the game without it "freezing".

Also, pick auto interchange, and don't sub. Sub is stuffed in this game. (It only really works when a player is seriously injured (where they are hobbling along, and their name is red, and it even freezes then sometimes as well). You won't win your awards, but having this game constantly freeze won't either.

So, try this, and I hope it worked as well for you as it did for me.
