AFL scrutinizing Pratt

Nothing will happen.

As if they can make Pratt accountable when he has doesn't anything wrong in his time as President. If they couldn't throw Cousins out of the AFL because he hasn't tested positive under their three strikes policy.

What reasons will they have to throw out Pratt?

They've have no grounds to throw him out.

And Demetriou has already said taking Pratt's money is OK.

Kangaroos survival in question
"If they can go and rally some people who'd be prepared to contribute - whether it's shareholders or others, a Dick Pratt - $7 million or $8 million a year for the next fifty years, it's possible." he said.

i heard demetriou defend pratt incessantly on SEN under some harsh questioning from patrick smith & KB---he said he faced up to it,took his appropriate fine & the AFL has no reason to question him as a fit & proper CFC president-the more smith pushed the more demetriou took pratt's side indicating his generous donations to the community & football were to be appreciated--CAN'T SEE HIM EATING THOSE WORDS NOW

both today's rags[age /sun] are merely speculating for a story & shite stir-up---1/ patrick keane & demetriou[who spoke to swann yesterday] indicated that there's NOTHING in the agenda for ALF'S commission 2/ swann dismisses it having checked with ALF/DEMETRIOU saying they'd know about it at CFC given it's a week away from the commission meeting & there's no substance to the articles as far as the club's concerned

The AFL only care about money. They regularly bow to public pressure to make sure their stream of money isn't interrupted.

What needs to happen, is to have the AFL administrators removed (by the clubs) and a new set of people put in charge with the mandate to make footy better rather than richer.

the afl won't want to lose any of the money pratt (directly or indirectly) brings to the afl.

if the afl attempt to throw out pratt we will return to the VFL- Visy Football League.

The commission will do nothing except express "concern", and demand "assurances". There are very good reasons for that.

The AFL is a business and it regularly sails close to the wind WRT collusion, price-fixing, and other anti-competitive, consumer-hostile behaviour - that's without counting restraint of trade issues. The last thing the commissioners want is to manufacture an unnecessary precedent which might one day be used against themselves. It's much safer to just make "tut-tut" noises and lecture from the moral high ground.

The papers must be going through a downturn in sales and need a bullsh1t headline.
Bunch of tossers

Under the headline: "AFL likely to query Blues boss Pratt"

The article goes on to say:
AFL spokesman Patrick Keane said last night the commission had not discussed Pratt's position at Carlton.

"It hasn't spoken about it and the commission's next meeting is November 19. Obviously, the key thing on the agenda is the Cousins hearing," Keane said.

"The agenda for the meeting hasn't been set yet, but they haven't had any discussions (about Pratt)."

How is that ANY indication that the AFL are likely to question Pratt???

not suprising that a club that continually cheats has a president who has cheated Australians out of 700 million dollars. The AFL would get rid of him if there was any justice in the world

Why would the AFL get rid of him? Has he bought the game into disrepute? And, from where I am standing, it's up to the members, and not the AFL, to determine the President of an AFL club. But hey, thanks for your input.

The AFL give them their licence to operate, it is a franchise.
Of course he should be investigated by the AFL for his disgraceful behaviour. He has admitted to systematically ripping of every Austalian for his own personal gain and the ACCC chief has descrbed him as a "thief in a suit". A 36 million dollar fine might give you some inkling he has done something wrong.

Bring the game into disrepute...you betcha!
At least Ben Cousins wasn't ripping everyone off and essentially damaging himself only.

Something tells me you are not really a Carlton supporter, but humour me by telling me how Richard Pratt has brought the game into disrepute. His offences have not impacted on any AFL club, on any AFL games or on the AFL in general. On the other hand, Ben Cousins' actions have directly impacted on the West Coast Eagles Football Club & have led to the AFL having to commission an enquiry into the West Coast Eagles, at considerable expense. The West Coast Eagles are also conducting their own enquiry & this will cost them as well.

You see the difference now? Ben Cousins is not only damaging himself. He is damaging the reputation of his ex-club, the AFL brand & his own family. You don't honestly believe Bryan Cousins is enjoying the media scrutiny & I would suspect he would have better things to do than hopping on planes to L.A. to escort his son home.

Now tell us which team you really support.

Don't bother, I now know you support St Kilda.
