This sounds like BS to me, if you are guaranteed a seat with a priority 1 membership why should you go in a ballot? Why should you be allocated standing room? Priority 1 should have the best available allocated to them, then priority 2 etc. Some people saying they got nothing with priority 1 or up in the nosebleeds and priority 3 got tickets on level 2. The system is a joke but we've known that for years.
Guaranteed a ticket, not a seat.

And when there's 91,000 other Collingwood members missing out, best not to be greedy.

Correct. The barcodes are not locked until you complete the transaction.
Barcode is locked once tickets are in your cart as for the Prelim the site froze after i selected find ticket. I went back and was denied saying my entitlements were used up, turns out I had a ticket in my basket I was able to purchase.

Time and again people on this thread seem to get the year they joined wrong, but I can tell you a few reported an upgrade who were between 1000 and 1100 on the waitlist. So hopefully next year for you.
I am in the low 5000s and the AFL told me I joined in 2012. I think it was late in the year.
thanks for info,
i went back a few pages in this thread, someone signed in Feb 2011 with a waitlist of 2000 so it checks out
I must have signed around Jan 2011, those upgraded probably signed late 2010

They should be guaranteed first priority, similar to full AFL members. Once they have their go then priority 2 has a crack etc

I went in the Carlton ballot and in the email that Ticketek sent out before the ballot registration opened, it clearly said that you could miss out if you are priority one and select the no standing option.

It doesn’t necessarily make what they’ve done correct and I don’t agree with it, but they were upfront about how it was going to be done.

Guessing the issue is tickets together. One guy complaining had 7 tickets grouped in the ballot. . So based on that I'm guessing there were no 7 seats together left so they were allocated standing room.

The other issue with payments seems to be the old Ticketek rejecting perfectly good credit cards. I have the issue of my credit card not working and passing the verification process. Even if I try the different options of gpay it still gets rejected. I know other people have the issue with multiple credit cards. Ticketek claim a 3rd party handles the payment side and verification and they can't do anything about.

One women on the news issue appeared to be this. She was told she had insufficient funds when that was incorrect. Her bank told her Ticketek had not even tried to charge her credit card. So that suggest it failed there verification process.

I had the issue for the 2018 Grand Final and was only able to get a hold of them via social media and they then contacted me to process over the phone. Have tried since with the same card and then a updated card for home & away games and it still wont verify. The only option is to contact them via email where you get the same old answer to go to a outlet to buy tickets. In the scheme of things it only effects a small percentage of people so they don't really give a shit of fixing the issue.

Up until yesterday I thought the ballot was pretty much foolproof... I mean if you registered with a valid credit card a week or two earlier then there are no issues... clearly that isnt the case.

In regards to the outlets, there must be a certain amount available for the outlets. 100 people in line and they would still be processing well after the online sales have sold out.

This in and of itself is a massive issue.

No doubt outlets would have some seats on hold for customers; I’d love to know where those seats are.

I appreciate some can’t use or access the online platform, but you’d hope they’re nowhere near the best seats in the AFL reserve.

Otherwise it’s completely unfair that someone who buys physically at say 2:30pm has access to better seats than someone who logs in online and gets beyond the queue (lol) at 2:03pm.

There is only one outlet in the whole of Melbourne in Collins street. Telling someone who is buying tickets that will sellout in minutes to just go to a outlet because your verification process fails is a sick joke.

As for tickets I'm guessing they hold the amount that are sitting in line and buying these days. They can add tickets and hold them while they allocate.

Most, if not all e-commerce sites will have a third party processing the transaction. The site will send details to that party, it will do its own validation and then pass to the bank to process. It is quite possible that Ticketek is not at fault in any of these cases.

A bit typical of the internet. Everyone blames someone else. Streaming service buffers they blame your internet connection while the ISP blame the streaming service. Internet drops in out the ISP blame the NBN while the NBN blame the ISP. Push you around in a circle with no one taking accountability.

At the end of the day your transaction is with Ticketek so it is there responsibility to rectify the issue. If the 3rd party they are using can't deliver then they need to change to a new 3rd party who can.

Perhaps. At least Ticketek have said they will be contacting those whose cards failed over the coming days, which implies they have tickets for them still and they plan to make sure they get those tickets. At least that is how I read it. If so, that is a decent outcome.

Doesn't help the bloke who missed out with AFL membership club support who had multiple credit cards fail the verification although his bank assured him they were fine.

wonder if they will release a few standing room during the week. thats how i got a ticket to the 2018 GF (WC v Coll)
Standing room has been allocated to club members. Already seen a Collingwood member indicate they M17 standing.

That's been the case for some time.

I had standing room in M23 for the 2017 GF (at least it made for a speedy exit at the final siren :D)

Wouldn't that just cause the Taylor Swift situation where the website just falls over and gives people the opportunity to buy tickets at random (while being told they're in a queue) - especially for priority 2/3?

No, this is all club members who have pre-registered. So the OP is suggesting they allocate tickets to the guaranteed members first to the best seats, then allocate the temaining seats and standing room to the lucky few who are successful in the ballot.

$1000 member for a guaranteed GF ticket.
All I can say is, I am glad I made tge switch to AFL membership in 2012. Not yet Gold, but I was still lucky enough to get a ticket in 2017 through the club ballot. Missed out in 2019, but grabbed tickets in the sale after GWS didn't sell their allocation.

I've got two tickets doubt I will go though.
Then you get people who actually get tickets and don't want to go

Outside of collingwood GFs do tickets generally make it to the third release (silver members with team competing)?
