Cloke just lacks the confidence, as i think he showed with the high handball after the few missed kicks. Beams looks quite manly for his age, who do we play the winner of?

After 5 years and 78 games in the system he still lacks the confidence? Come off it mate and see the bigger picture. It's a series issue that needs to be addressed.

If Travis improves his kicking for goal it will improve the team altogether.

I agree with the Beams comment though.

When there is no pressure on him i.e on the boundary impossible angle he slots it through no problem, i know the glasses are firmly on when i say it is a confidence thing. How can you address the issue? is it a kicking action which looks quite ordinary for the most part but works in others, quite perplexing.

I agree if he can take the step and kick around the 60+ mark we will look much better.

Refer to the post below...
On his approach to a set shot after 1 or 2 steps he goes from a vertical stance to leaning back, then sprays the kick. If he stays vertical or leaning slightly forward he nails it. This is still the case, how is it that the football brains of our club can't see and address this. Gees a commentator spotted it!!!

I'm really disappointing in Travis Cloke. We cannot except a CHF to continually miss easy set shots for goal.

You might make an argument by comparing Travs goal kicking skills with other KPP forward such as Roughead, Franklin, but they make up that inaccuracy by the sheer amount of shots at goal they have.

If Cloke continues on with his shabby kicking for goal then I think it will cost us.

Totally agree. I think he's one of the weakest CHF's in the game (for set shots). It's just his confidence...as DoubleO7 pointed, and after 5 years this is not very good.

I'm not sure how someone can play football for a living and train multiple times a week and STILL manage to miss the goals completely from 30m out on a slight angle.

I genuinely think I'd be a more accurate set shot than Travis is (although I'd get nowhere near the distance he could) but in terms of accuracy, I seriously think many random footy fans would be more accurate.

Can't fathom how it can still happen in his 5th year of footy.

I thought Toovey was very good. I almost never think Toovey is good. Looked really composed and confident last night. Let's hope he is not just a Richmond specialist!
Unlikely. His 2007 match against the Tigers when we lost as heavy favourites would have to be one of the worst games I've seen by a Collingwood player. Thursday night he was much, much, much better though and I hope he continues in that form.

Really impressed with Reid. He is starting to look like he thinks he belongs at this level and when that happens there is going to be a massive improvement in him. I think he will be in the team come Round 1 and may pip JA for a spot if Rocca is fit.
In reality, it probably doesn't matter exactly what role we use him in, but we have to give him games in the AFL to continue his learning curve. He's a big unit, he's mobile, he is fast on the lead, has sticky mitts and is a decent field kick. I'm sure we can manufacture a spot for him.

Reid I think as others have mentioned before that is the role that he is most suited for ATM. Playing a high lead up role "Tarranting" (to quote MDC) defenders. I still think long term he has more potential to play a key post.
See above.

Luckily the club has more brains than to judge anybody on just one game. You'd be well advised to do the same.

I don't think he was judging Toovey on one game, more just pointing out his performance was terrible in that one game, which it was.

Nothing wrong with what he said.

Agree with that. We dont need to find a spot for Reid. If he shows his current form he can play pretty much anywhere. Will probably fight it out with Cox for Round 1 for that mobile tall position when we have to cull the NAB Cup list of 28 back to 22.

I felt then and feel now that Licuria was by far our worst that day, for such a senior player to not hit a target for 3 qtrs by foot or hand was horrible

Toovey has been mercilessly bagged on this board because of that one game.

I'm not a Toovey bagger at all, but that's just not true.

People bagged Toovey because his movements are unorthodox, his kicking was consistently average to poor in several games, and the fact that there's absolutely nothing flashy about him.

Maxwell endured similar treatment for similar reasons.
