There is no measured or controlled aggression shown by the team on field at all for this season..... none
To me this is a huge problem.
You have to have grit and the will to win, and this can be measured by how much aggression and effort and 1%'s you see on the field.
I do not see it with Fremantle FC on the field.
I'm not sure if controlled aggression gets lost in game plans or playing to specified instructions or whatever....
I just want to see the team show us something. If Harvey or the fans or even the players themselves cannot ignite their passion and will to win, what the **** will?

freo have no skill and trying to play a game style which requires skill.

this zoning s*** destroys their ability to even play aggresively cos they are not even near an opponent and are continually lost and dont know what to do or where to move.

go hard 1 on 1 first then you'll be able to test their aggression

Yeah, this is a problem.

Players weren't willing to run, create or attack the ball or man. This could be a symptom of a lack of confidence in the game plan or each other but either way it did not look good.

I tend to agree but we have one problem the boys do not have the bodies to play man on man. All built for speed and not much else ? then why do we always look slow ???

You know what I've really noticed an absence of this year? The aggression before the bounce when our guys would walk to position and start bumping and pushing their opponents around.

Whenever I saw that the last few years it brought a smile to my dial because I knew we'd come to play. When the intensity was there before the siren it was there once the ball was bounced.

But so far this year - nothing. We meekly walk up to our opponents, head down, like we don't even think we're worthy to be standing next to them.

No aggression, no attitude. And that's exactly how we play once the ball is bounced.

Show some fire boys! Get angry for f**ks sake! You're playing like a bunch of stoned nuns.

If you'd told me 2 years ago that after Harvey took over I'd be pining for the aggression from the CC years I would have thought you'd swallowed some of Kerr's pear-inducing stash.

If this is Harvey's way of trying to stamp out undisciplined aggression then it's not working. I'd rather full-on aggression that oversteps the line and results in suspensions occasionally than our players whimpering around like beaten dogs with their tails between their legs before the bell has even gone.

They are playing like they know they cant make the finals and when your 4 games in that makes for a pretty shitty season.I was there yesterday and their warm up was how they played, looked like they hated each other and just wanted to get the **ck out of there

A few of you may have missed my point, being that I want the boys to show intensity and aggression going after the ball and winning the game, however, being as shit as we are atm, looking at this, which is wrong on many levels, it is also right on some levels...

Purely hypothetical question
Would a derby be the right forum for such ??:D

Probably your best post/thread I've read nightfury, I agree 100%. I was watching that Hawks vs Bombers game live and it was classic, very fun to watch. I think we could stand to lose a few senior players for a few games, just tell them to cut loose in the derby. Just get Headland in to talk about what Selwood said about his daughter as the pre game warm up.

The likelihood of any of our team doing something like this is very low though, they seem to be afraid of their own shadows and don't really seem to care that much about the other players in the team. To have a melee on the field means you actually need to care that someone is dealing with your teammate inappropriately, I don't think we have that with the current squad.

I noticed Head went flying into a contest in the game against Adelaide (I think), basically he got F'd up by a Crow in the process and no team mate even congratulated him for showing courage. He got up shaken, looked around a bit and just walked off.

I wonder if the unfolding events of this week are going to fire the lads up ???

I would hope so....and if not then they only need to remember what day it is. Surely that should get 'em going. And if it doesn't, then all hope is lost.

At the going down of the sun...

I crouched in a shallow trench on that hell of exposed beaches... steeply rising foothills bare of cover... a landscape pockmarked with war’s inevitable litter... piles of stores... equipment... ammunition... and the weird contortions of death sculptured in Australian flesh... I saw the going down of the sun on that first ANZAC Day... the chaotic maelstrom of Australia’s blooding.

I fought in the frozen mud of the Somme... in a blazing destroyer exploding on the North Sea... I fought on the perimeter at Tobruk... crashed in the flaming wreckage of a fighter in New Guinea... lived with the damned in the place cursed with the name Changi.
I was your mate... the kid across the street... the med. student at graduation... the mechanic in the corner garage... the baker who brought you bread... the gardener who cut your lawn... the clerk who sent your phone bill.

I was an Army private... a Naval commander... an Air Force bombardier. no man knows me... no name marks my tomb, for I am every Australian serviceman... I am the Unknown Soldier.

I died for a cause I held just in the service of my land... that you and yours may say in freedom... I am proud to be an Australian.

This 60 cm x 90 cm framed message, a poignant tribute to the Australian serviceman, hangs in the offices of the Queensland State Headquarters of the RSL

Indeed - if the boys can't get revved up for the Len Hall game there really are some things out of whack. Mind you, as I recall last year's Len Hall game was a corker - if only it hadn't been for that dang post...

I don't want to bring up old wounds, but with a certain Carr now parked in the P.Adelaide garage and the other one retired, take out a player like Johnson (notice where he was at in that video), Black, McManus and Cookie from the year before and a few others and we've lost a fair whack of players tough older bodies who would give you that sort of aggression even if their games were down.

"Play the kids" is the catch cry ... I'm not sure if you can have it both ways. Mind you, I agree in general. The majority of the previously 'mid-tear' players should be far more at'em that's for sure.

Is Tarrant our most aggressive player? He has shown more than either Solomon or Grover from what I have see when he is in the backline. And why does he show agro in the backline, then drop that back a gear in the forward line?
