Don't want him for pick 7. He's uncontracted, nominated us and Brisbane are a shambles. Time to push hard and if Brisbane do go through with their ridiculous threat he ends up at Carlton who are that far from being a competent football side it isnt funny. Nothing personal, just what a well run business does.
Not advocating sending 7 to Brisbane, so it would still be same cost to us 2x second rounders just done in a different way.

Pick 22 (for Seedsman) and our 2nd rounder is very fair for Aish. Brisbane will take it.

Lol so the papers are saying just 1 pick should be enough for Aish

"The Lions have said they will not trade Aish but if Collingwood offer something attractive, they would surely take it.

Pushing a player into the draft when they can get something for him does not look tough, it just looks pig-headed, and Lions CEO Greg Swann knows how to get a deal done.

Although it does not appear the Pies have the picks to satisfy both GWS and the Lions, there is plenty of trading yet to happen.

Collingwood may get pick 19 or 22 from the Suns for Seedsman, and will also attract a decent pick for Nathan Freeman who wants to join the Saints.

That could be on offer for the Lions. Pick 19 for a player who does not want to be at the Gabba, and who struggled to cement a spot in a battling side this year, is a reasonable return."

A pick7 who showed plenty in his first season and then battled with injury and perhaps desire in yr2 as he wanted out.

If we are expecting a mid 20's pick for Freeman, a pick10 in Aish' draft who is yet to even play AFL, then the Lions would rightly demand a pick in the teens for him at a minimum.

Would two mid 20's picks do the job?? Or perhaps the earliest 2nd rd pick we end up with plus Oxley if they want him??

Happy to give away draft picks for guys who are slightly more advanced like Treloar and Aish, would expect big impact from both immediately and a jump into top6 in 2016.

Saying "Aish will be a pie, Brisbane will deal"

He hasn't been wrong on this yet
I always rest a little easier when Scout says something. He was right with Treoloar and further back with Clinton Young. Walsh said we are done with trading 1 day before free agency finishes, the media report we're outs of the race for Young that night. That same night Scout says we are still right in it. Next day he's signed.

Why would he do into the preseason draft? Why not the national draft like luke ball and try to get to a decent club (eg not carlton)
He will but it's just a matter of offering up something decent. Perhaps Matthews thinks we'll offer up a crap deal like pick 26 for a former pick 7. Docherty was a pick 12 and went 2/3 years later for pick 33. Now that is a reeming.

At a guess, I bet we'll offer 2 x 2nd rounders plus Oxley. 2 x 2nd rounders is fair and in all likelihood, I bet they'd get Oxley in the PSD for nothing anyway. Gut feel is a deal is done there between Brisbane and Oxley.

You gotta wonder if both clubs are just doing what they did last year with both pr teams making the most out of this to keep both clubs brand name's in the paper for day's before sitting down and finalising the deal like when we traded Shaw for Adam's as well.

Not sure if it's the journos belief of what may occur, or if he has some word on possible scenarios.
Even if it is an educated guess, it makes a 2nd round plus Oxley sound like way overs. Probably I am missing something here. But good to see that the pressure is slowly building on Brisbane to be pragmatic about it and get the deal done.

Which is ideal for us. If Brisbane feel like they're getting overs at the trade table they'll change their tune pretty quickly.

We shed a second round pick and a player surplus to our list requirements, they get overs for Aish.

Win win.

Is ox certain to go? If so why?

Out of contract and QLD-er. Common believe is now he is gone, likely as part of Aish trade.

Maybe you are right. But a win for them being a petulant child is a loss imho.
"They play ball, we play ball" as Les Grossman would say.

Got a bad feeling we won't get him. I'll be excited if we do but Brisbane... They're campaigners.
It doesn't matter, if we get him he's a spud and a terrible list fit, if we don't we've missed out on a gun who complements our midfield. We lose either way.

I wouldn't worry too much Brisbane have shown they're not particular bright at either the trade or draft table. I'm reasonably confident we'll get who we want.
The best they can hope for is the Richmond/Carlton fallback line 'at least we made you pay through the nose for him.'

If we don't get him we take a pick or 2 to the draft or use it elsewhere in trade week. We can't really lose anything.

Here's an interesting article which probably explains why they want him to go to the PSD.
It's the only way they'll get him as he's already said no!

"BRISBANE are seething at Carlton going into Sunday’s clash at Etihad Stadium after Blues officials flew to Queensland this week for secret talks with Lions midfielder James Aish.
Carlton CEO Steve Trigg, football operations manager Andrew Mackay and list manager Stephen Silvagni were in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast on Wednesday under the official guise of speaking to sporting software expert and baseball coach Jon Deeble".

Good find, both clubs(Lions and Blues) make me giggle.
