After reading the latest on Aker being dropped and his falling out with Lethal, made me think about what his future options would be. The guy is talented and has freakish abilities and is only 29. He is obviously down on form, but I believe a change of a club could do the guy well. Still probably has another 4-5 years to go.

Could you guys see him playing for Hawthorn in the future ? and if so what would we have to give up for him to make it worthwhile for Brisbane. Nick Ries and a late pick maybe ? Is our midfeild too full already ? :D

Would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Yes but Spider was also in the same boat, similar in age. We took the punt on him and he is in the elite few ruckmen in the competition.

But ruckman are different. You don't get any smaller with age but you will get slower which is essential for a midfielder like Acker.

Unless he came REALLY cheap, nope.

I can't see us paying anywhere near what Brisbane would want for him. Sydney might, the Roos (if Laidley has anything to say) might.

Oh, and I still reckon we may not come out on top with the Everitt trade. Salopek is starting to look very comfortable at senior level...Let's face it, we payed plenty for Spider under the assumption that he'd help us with a tilt at the flag.

I'd bloody well hope that's not AC's mentality at this point.

No it wouldn't be a wise move IMO, we are heading in a very positive direction and to be honest Aker, although a gun is disruptive by nature to say the least... we are better off developing the group we have at the moment with a view to produce players capable of having the impact that Aker did in his prime.... here's hoping;)

He'd be wanting to go to a contending team, you'd think. Sadly, despite the smoke and mirrors display this season, it won't be us for another two years.

We took Everitt when we just made a prelim final and expected to be top 4 again.

There will be similar players every year, 29/30 year olds who have been A graders who clubs are looking to get draft picks out of. We may consider them after a year of finals to make the GF. But before that, a 1st/2nd rounder is worth much more.

Ability wise Acka would fit into any of the 16 teams. Have the feeling we wont be seeing him in a Hawks guernsey when there is such a strong emphasis on team and self discipline at our club. Price is another aspect.
