Alan Didak question

Has alot of upside still in his football but i think his build will play a major part in him struggling to break packs, kick massive goals and shrug tackles (all of which those players do extremely well). He is a great player but i just dont think he has that drive or burning desire to be the best. Ablett and Judd are both absolutely committed to being the best they can and are rarely seen out blind and talking to women half their age amongst many other things. Alans commitment is one thing i have never been sure of. Has the talent but lacks the drive to be his best.

I wish, he can and will be a great collingwood player but i agree with esc0bar. There are a few steps to climb to be at their level and if he gets there i will be stoked

He needs to be more consistent in the big games. We know what he can produce but it's a matter of consistency. Judd and Ablett have done it over a few years so Alan needs to do the same to be regarded along side these players.

The good thing about Didak this year was that he was what all Collingwood fans were screaming for - more consistent. Didn't have a great finals series but after his return from injury he played a good home and away season.

As long as he keeps that up next year and learns to break a tag (seemed to get better at it during the year), he should step up again next year. However there is still a few steps to go before he can get to the level of a Judd or Ablett.

Can he reach the playing level of a Chris Judd and/or Gary Ablett?
no he cant, cant get the hard ball like those blokes.

its a mental thing, he will never change. The guy is a star but he will never be elite.

I don't think he will get near that level he isn't quick enough and can't break through packs with a burst of speed like Ablett and Judd

Depends what you classify "elite".

Would you have classified Akermanis, Wanganeen, Jarman or Paul Chapman as elite in their prime?

If so, then Didak has the ability to become an elite half forward, capable of being the match winner in a Grand Final.

I see Didak as more important to us as a half forward then a midfielder, especially if we happen to get Luke Ball.

But even without Ball, we have a good enough midfield to only play Dids in there as a bottom level rotation player, rather then a key mid.

Didak, a little like Steve Johnson, hurts sides more when he is around or inside 50, and this is where he should play the majority of his football next year and beyond.

Zero chance. Doesn't have the all round games the others do. He is good at what he does, but what he does has far less dimensions than the other two.

He should be kept close to goals imo.

Of course those blokes are elite, they have done it when it matters most and really dont have too many faults. All win the contested ball, Jarman towards the end didnt but.

Didak is playing midfield now, much rather him stay up fwd cause he doesnt go in hard for the ball and always sits on the outside waiting for the handball.

He is pure class when it comes to being an outside, goal kicking midfielder but you can't compare him to Ablett and Judd's ball winning ability. However let him prove me wrong...

That sums it up

I don't think that it's a mental thing. I think that it's a physical thing. Unlike the two you have mentioned, he doesn't have the the strength or pace to make him unstoppable. He'll always be eminently taggable.

No where near the class of either Judd or Ablett, only one in our team that will go close to them is Pendlebury hopefully he shows some further improvement he is the true star of the club

Onviously one of my favourites.. I personally think he should be played on a forward flank drifting u[ the ground at stages, while he did rack up big numbers in the midfield many of his touches were not as damaging.

He is so dangerous with his delivery into the forward line, I would rather he had 15 possessions from 80 metres or closer than 30 playing through the guts..

Unless his desire/workrate increases he will never be close to Juddy/Gaz..

Pretty spot on.

I am a big Didak fan but I feel he is a little soft around the edges unlike the other 2. HFF rotating midfield I would think would be the ideal scenario,
