**BUMP**

I am about to send a PM to Cheif in order to try and organise for BigFooty to either go offline for today or/ be dimmed in colour as a marking of respect to Albert Proud to who was delisted yesterday.

I still think Albert could still make a fantastic footballer - with his hardness at the contest and footy smarts (Mojo31 was a big fan - perhaps even bigger than me?) .. and let's not overlook the fact that he is indiginous and a Victorian native. Therefore I will not rest until Alby is at least invited to train with the Carlton.

I think under our Football Department (and away from the rabble in Brisbane) he could thrive and be a much valued contributer to our line up.

/rant.

Brisbane supporters seem to be genuinely disappointed that he's gone and Vossy is pretty clueless when it comes to list management.

Could do worse, I suppose.
This.

I think we would have a better support system for Indiginous players than Brisbane would given the dramers that they also had with Rhan Hooper when he was up there.

Albert does come with some genuine off field baggage though, and I suppose the Football Department are afraid that he may be a negative influence on the likes of Yarran and Garlett.

This year Proud has battled: injury, a court case, the death of his mother and has admitted to a drinking problem. I know some may think he would be a lost cause already, but I think he could add some much needed hardness, talent and nous to our core midfield (especially since Hadley has gone and Brock is injury prone).

Unless we are going to dead set pick up a Mitch Hallahan or Josh Green - then I think we should at least have a chat to Albert to see where his head is at, and to get him away from his dramas up north and bring him home to Victoria (given he was originally from Sunshine, perhaps we need to move him in with someone else).

Brisbane supporters on their board seem genuinly upset that Albert was delisted and think that he finished the season in good form.

Proud's life story includes abuse and abandonment, alcohol and violence – it is a story that would melt the hardest heart.
But it is not the story he wants to tell, that story is being written today, tomorrow and the next day. One day at a time from now on.

In April this year, with his footy career hanging by a thread and his life and relationship in tatters, Proud finally confronted his fears. He sought leave from the Lions and put himself under psychiatric care in Brisbane.

Its a good read.

Has a lot of baggage.
Has a lot of upside.

We just got rid of a bloke that could not control himself, not sure we want to deliberately introduce someone else into the club with a similar problem unless we have learned some valuable lessons in managing that sort of behaviour.

It seems a strange decision for the Lions to cut him just as he seems to be getting himself on track. Makes you wonder why they can't see any potential benefit in keeping him.

Happy to take him on if we have behavioural clauses in his contract and monitor the influence he has on others.

Personally, I think that at this point of his career, Proud would be best served to head back to the VFL, spend a couple of seasons there proving that his issues of the past are now behind him and he is back to his best before putting his hand up for the AFL again.

That being said, I think that next year, GWS would pick him up as a special pick and seek to trade him to a Victorian club.

Brisbane are all over the news. Thank god it's not us anymore!

If our pre season is in tatters because 2 have the runs and a few have had off seasons opps and are not going to be ready for NAB and apart from Hendo and Kruze are all likely to play round 1 but I would not be surprised to see them both front for RD1 also, what must they think of the Lions pre season, 2 in the legal system and various non footy related rehab and one out for the season with a knee reco.....not to mention they still have a list stacked with older players that were supposed to deliver one last time last year and are a year older now and a number of talented players at other clubs. Yep, tatters...cant wait to read the HUNs take on it.

I thought the law said if a Police Officer gets assaulted the person assaulting goes to jail.I know it hasn't gone to court yet but is this the case even if the person involved is a sport player.
