These rules are also to be interpreted in conjunction with the sitewide rules https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/help/terms/

The objective of the Polls Board is to have a board where posters can compare and debate players in a sensible manner. If you are not interested in posting in a sensible manner your access will be removed.

This is the poll board and not bay 13. If you wish to post up a new poll, it needs to abide by the rules. If you post up a poll that is a blatent troll/belongs in bay 13 then penalties including permanent bans will be handed out.

Thread titles should give a clear indication of the topic. Apart from not wasting users time it make Searching Titles more accurate.

No name calling or abuse of posters is tolerated and this also applies to the nicknames given to clubs.

Stay on topic - Don't attack the team of a poster that posts something you don't like or agree with - This is one of the biggest reasons why topics get derailed and we will be cracking down on this. If a thread has started to go off-topic, don't add to the problem. Using the excuse 'It was already off-topic' when you receive an infraction won't work.
Posts such as 'Culture', 'I agree', 'Gold' etc are not wanted and will be dealt with.

Trolling other teams is not sensible football discussion and having the sentence "This is not a troll but..." doesn't exempt it from being a troll and leave injured players out of it all together.

Do not post rumours - If you can not back up your statement with facts that can be substantiated or a link to an article etc, do not post it.

The same goes for defamatory comments. If these are posted you will be permanently banned from the Polls Board.
If you see a post that breaches the rules report it, don't quote it and respond. If you think a thread doesn't belong on the AFL board, report it. Don't post in the thread saying it should be on x board.

Don't quote an entire post if you are responding to a part of it. Edit out the irrelevant parts.

Don't compare kids that have only played a handful games especially when one just happens to have a big game for the first time and lets give the kids a chance to mature at AFL level before creating threads to criticize blokes.

We don't need grammar teachers so leave out comments about spelling, sentence construction etc etc. Although constant txt like writing will earn you an infraction.

Posters that fail to follow the rules will be infracted and/or have their access removed.
If a poster decides to create a new account to get around the block, the new account will be banned and the previous account infracted or banned as well.

Questions about Moderation openly in threads will also not be looked upon highly and if you feel your posts are being deleted and are unsure why feel free to P.M any board Mod for clarification and you will be given Infractions for this.

Re: Polls Board Rules

Special Note.

The above board rules are going to be more stringently followed in future.

If a post is leading towards trolling or baiting an opposing view it will be scrubbed. No explanation required. So don't do it.
This includes "player X >>>>>>>>>>>>>player Y". And also "Player Y is the better player by the length of the flemington straight", and of course the same site wide rules against avoidance of the swear filter, the use of 'flogs' and '*' remain.

Do not bring shitfights from other boards to the Polls Board. Legitimate questions and queries are fine, but if you intend to start a Poll to point score, don't do it.

If you can't discuss the merits of each comparison or poll with maturity and intelligence then don't bother posting.

We have been given a directive to clean the Polls board up and support intelligent discussion, so if you cannot fall within these rules and guidelines you'll find yourself on the outer, quick smart.

I advise all participants of the Polls Board to involve themselves in the discussion with these rules in mind.

****Warning to All: Yes you, read here now.****

People,
It seems we have some very slow learners. The board rules are here to stay, so abide by them.

Say what you want to say in any of the discussions without looking to get a rise out of another poster.

This includes leaving out :

Player X>>>>>>Player Y

Player B get's cheap ball.

Player A by the length of flemington straight.

Player B only plays well because he's in a good side.

Player A is soft, and is a downhill skier.

And anything deemed to be agitating or to irritate another poster or support base. Including calls about drafting, crowd numbers, finances etc.

If you cannot discuss a players attributes without throwing out a line to hook another poster you will be carded.

Posters can refrain from using Bay13 nicknames or clubs, eg. Norf, Carlscum, Bummers, Aints, etc etc.

We all know that they are only thrown in to try and belittle the club in question.

If you post these sorts of names, they'll be deleted, and the post could well be infracted, depending on the tone.

In short, don't do it.

Re: ****Warning to All: Yes you, read here now.****

Just another thing to note for all posters.......

If you see a reply you think breaches any rules please report the post at hand using the report post icon and it will be looked at ASAP. Try to refrain from biting back as it only derails threads and let the Mods take the proper action.

The lack of reporting post's is becoming an issue with poster's just abusing each other in return which derails threads and only leads to their closure.

Chism.

Some more terms that are going to be cracked down on and are not acceptable seem to be popping up every now and then so we are making this announcement to make everyone aware of the fact that they are not wanted on the Polls Board and will not be tolerated.

If you say things like...

"Are you offended"

"Did you enjoy your team being raped"

and any other immature retorts that contain these sorts of comments may see you Infracted so do not use them.

Polls started to settle other boards arguments with posters being singled out for homemade hindsight internet justice and self proclaimed gloating will also not end well.

Just a general note for everyone.

If you come across someone who is plainly intending to do nothing but derail a thread, don't expedite the derailing by responding to the rubbish. Report the offending posts, please.

Essendon update.

Yes, we all know Essendon has had players banned for 12 months, there's no need to play on that here though.

Any threads created with a banned player as an option will be closed and deleted.

Similarly, any poster bumping an old thread to make a point about a players who is currently banned for doping will be carded.
