Society/Culture Alex Pearce supports Palestine/promotes terrorism depending who you ask

Boosting messages put out by terrorist sympathisers is pretty on-the-nose regardless of the specific contents of the message.
Please point to anything that suggests this is actually the case..

Based on the description you've used above surely that would include anyone who has said anything in support of the actions of the State of Israel?

Well I’m sure there are objectively bad people who support Israel. If an AFL player reposts their content then sure. Warren Tredrea reposts Trump bullshit all the time and was also called out by Caro.

Do you remember that hoopla when a north Melbourne fan just waved an Israel flag to show support for Harry Sheezel? I would expect people would be much more sensitive going in the other direction.

Why should/would they be more sensitive going in the other direction? What Israel is currently doing in Gaza has been condemned by most of the world as a war crime.

You also posted a link where they are quoted as saying they unequivocally don't support Hamas or Hezbollah...

I think people would throw more of a fit if an AFL player was supporting Israel. Where they’re right in doing that is another story.

… after a video came out of one of their members showing support for them. And encouraging people to murder members of parliament. They absolutely have terrorist sympathies.

Yet in terms of what is being alleged that Pearce is "supporting" the only hard evidence available suggests the exact opposite.

And if you think there would be more outrage from a player openly supporting Israel then I think you're deluded. Can you honestly picture a world where Caroline Wilson is on the telly saying "Palestinian people within the AFL community are feeling hurt by these statements"?

Don’t be daft

If it was from a similarly nefarious source, I think she would.

Then you live in a land of absolute delusion. I recommend checking out the Media Watch episode from a couple of weeks ago that investigated Austen Tayshus' relationship with the ABC. The bar for believing there are antisemitic reasons for decisions people are making is at an all time low. There is no world where someone claiming similar Islamophobic intentions would get the ear of the Chair of the ABC and have their grievances acted upon.

What does that have to do with this? Lol I will wait for the day that an AFL player starts reposting Blair Cottrell and see what the media reaction is.

It will be minimal because there won't be powerful Muslim voices jumping out and down screaming ANTISEMITISM!!!

That's the exact point of my reference to Media Watch. It got blown up as an issue at the ABC because someone who hasn't been relevant for 40 years believed they were the victim of antisemitism, and the Chair of the National broadcaster bought it hook like and sinker and acted upon it.

Can you please stop pretending like there is some huge gulf between boosting the message of people committed to the murder of Jews and “antisemitism”. It’s not some overreaction.

If Alex has reposted it without knowing what kneecap were all about then he should apologise for his mistake.

What about what he actually reposted was supporting Hamas or Hezbollah? Please show me the exact wording that in any way did this?

Can you please stop pretending that Zionist and Muslim voices carry the same weight in this country?

It’s not the content of the message, but it’s author. They support terrorism.

You’ve gotta be ****en kidding me.. Remember when we all tied ourselves in knots to try and say that the Sydney Siege wasn’t Islamic terrorism? So strong was our need to not be Islamophobia. We hear way more from pro-Palestine activists than pro-Israel.

FFS - Do you truly believe that? You do realise that Australia ABSTAINED from voting on a UN resolution calling for the end of the Israeli occupation of the Gaza strip don't you? Our nation's leaders so feared the "backlash" from sections of the Jewish community that we couldn't support a resolution calling for an end to an illegal occupation.

**EDIT - The then leader of the Federal Opposition claimed that we shouldn't have abstained, but instead voted with the US AGAINST the motion

But yeah, we don't hear anything from pro-Israel lobbyists

Australia abstaining or voting in favour of a terrorist country instead of in support of its ally is not strong evidence of your Jewish conspiracy theory. You’ve got that one completely backwards.

Now we get to the crux of the argument. You believe that all Palestinians are terrorists and that Israel is merely "defending itself" don't you...

New Zealand and the United Kingdom are also extremely close allies of Australia... Guess how they voted...

No

I wouldn’t use “merely” but in broad terms yes.

Countries that are under similar pressure to listen to loud pro-Palestinian voices at the expense of its ally.

No

Do you think that perhaps, just perhaps, if a majority of countries are supporting such a resolution that maybe its our ally who is yielding to pressure from a lobby group/country to vote against something that the vast majority of the world believes is a good idea?

In the entire world, 14 countries voted against. The US, Israel and such global super powers as Papua New Guinea, Malawi, Micronesia, Palau and Naru.

But yep, it was just a matter of everyone else disproportionately listening to pro-Palestinian voices.

Just to clarify - You don't believe the US voted against that particular resolution because of pressure from Israel and pro-Israel lobby groups?
The Trump administration’s ongoing support for Israel to this point has been surprising given he would have a lot of right wing nut jobs around him saying a lot of the same things about Israel and Jews that get said by progressives here.

I’m not going to say that lobby groups have no influence there, but I think Israel is something where the US makes rare displays of sanity. How long it lasts, however, is a different story.

Denying people access to Aid and food is such a sensible thing to do...
