Doubt that'll ever happen after we gave him an opportunity when no one else would.

These mature agers seem to be a bit more loyal than your average spoilt first round wunderkid.

You would hope so, that is what was disappointing when Gibson decided he wanted to go after we gave him a rookie spot as a mature player and got up to playing good footy for us.

But, him leaving allowed us to get both Black and Bastinac rather than have to choose one and Hale leaving last year got us Harper so every cloud has a silver lining.

This guy is showing true leadeship qualities, hates losing, and never makes excuses.Make him co-captain next year.
He is our Nick Maxwell, a guy to lead us in a new era of success.

except, unlike maxwell he is actually tough and actually has ability

Nice to read opposition fans appreciating one of ours for showing some courage and dedication in a poor performance by the team.

Totally agree on the captaincy call...Would do us proud

He was a stand-out for you guys.

Freo has always been my 2nd favourite team so i watch them every chance I get. I havent seen Silvagni back out of a contest yet and when he gets hit he gets straight back up.

His attack on the ball is like Archer's or more recently Greenwood's.

BUMP...

SCOS just announced his retirement. All the best fella!

He was consistently let down by injuries. I liked him, gave his all and had some great games (beat Buddy at least twice I remember) as well as some shockers.

Pretty ****in insane he only played 60 games. I was a big fan so all things considered I knew why he wasn't out there much, but man I even thought he'd cracked 85 or so.

Honestly should have been a first choice full back for at least a few seasons and had the rights to be a 150-gamer but he just didn't get a chance. He was definitely injured a bit but no coach ever really fully had faith in him. Lukey went down a bit toward the end and even then I used to think SNOS was a better option than Adam McPhee down there.

The big thing I remember about him was you could tell in the first contest whether it was to be a good game or a bad game for him. He used to get some harsh calls against him and my mental image is of him standing on the mark having a go or swearing under his breath. In those games he'd lose confidence but then conversely, sometimes he'd kill Buddy or something in the first one-on-one and you were pumped to see him keep a great key forward goalless.

Was happy to see him be in the leadership group at the Blues this season and some nepotism at Carlton could've helped but ah well, wasn't to be. Still what, was on a list for about 10 years so he would have made alright money in his time. Seemed a half-intelligent dude as well so not all bad for him.

Always been a big fan. Not so much of his football talent, but his gutsy approach and effort.

I recall one of those player questions a few years back where they asked who they least liked to spar with in the boxing ring.
The answers went something like Sandilands because of his reach, Walters because he was so quick and Alex Silvagni because he's the psycho with arms flaying at you.
