Robinson, Malone, Mutombo. A fearsome front line

Lol at not making Defensive 1st team in 95 after winning DPOY.

Wonder how many times that has happened in history.

Still reckon its a bit early for Dikembe.

The old blokes aren't bgetting much love in this draft I reckon.

that's it. slander dike's name. he loves that. he'll come out and block the shit out of any team now.

with the exception of iverson ive been assembling a team of good natured, well rounded, positive role modelled individuals here. my team will remain in tact whilst others will fall by the way side with inhouse bickering, drug addictions, and scandals becoming their shadow

thing is, the real old blokes (ie black and white tv time, or even before tv) cant be appreciated by posters here. we just rely on hearsay and the odd bit of shit from the media.

old players who have been put on a mantlepiece by the media have been made better as time goes by (even without tv footage).

PN... we think alike. These are the two blokes I was tossing up between. Mutombo or Zo. In the end I went with Zo. Just as awesome on the defensive end but gives me more at the other end. I love Dikembe though.

Agreed. Some old blokes still havent been chosen. It's interesting that we just went by 50. With PN's pick, the posters of BigFooty literally picked the 50 greatest of all time. But it's all subjective. Mutombo would never make a greatest 50 of all time, neither would Zo etc but they fill a need for a particular team which makes it completely different.

Also to be fair a lot of modern players go unappreciated because we dont have pics or video of them in black and white. Take Mutombo for instance. This bloke in his prime was having seasons of 15rpg, 12ppg and 4bgp. Nobody in todays game get anywhere near that. A monster rebounder. HUGE shot blocker and helping out on offence.

Yeah we bypass a few oldies but IMO a few players in todays game dont get the recognition they deserve.

That's another thread to be honest. The 50 greatest was picked quite a few years ago. Kobe wasnt selected. Anybody telling me he isnt in the greatest 50 of all time?? You pick it today and a ton of those old blokes get dropped for stars of today.

Im drunk by the way. Rant over.

i was gonna take Zo with teh AI pick too, but thought he'd be available as the snake crawled back. oh well

Might want to have a bit of a heart to heart with Dikembe about his character.

Just saying...

There's quite a few guys who haven't been picked who are more Dr J's and Kareems mates who have some decent footage around too.

You know whats funny is that as I was typing that I actually though of Ibaka but was too drunk and couldnt be bothered checking his stats. But he did cross my mind and though he might go close :D

Would have Mitch Richmond before Miller or Allen.

and Bill Walton and Dave Cowens over Mutumbo, Mourning and Howard.

Sorry guys, got distracted by the Hamish McLachlan thread. It's taken away my whole day.

Don't have time for a long post.

I select Nate Thurmond with my next pick. A very underrated center and a guy who is forgotten about because of Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. Career averages of 15ppg and 15rpg.
