So our haul is a top 10 mid and a ruckman. Clearest gaps in our list. FFS why do we keep picking the obvious when we could be innovative, like Michael Voss or Terry Wallace!?

Who knows how long NN will last, while Vardy and Hickey will probably only last a few more years.

Good pick. Coming in to the draft at 49 any mids picked would be a low % of turning out any good. A 19yo big ruck is a good development project for the future. We have a proud history of developing talls and a shit one of developing mids picked beyond the 1st round. Play to our strengths with a weak draft hand. We will recruit decent mids like Robertson once the work has been done.
NN Vardy and Hickey will be about finished once Jamison and Williams start hitting their straps.

Nic Nat only has a couple of year plus injury prone. Hickey is 27? And Vardy is poo and Williams is young. Two rucks back in vogue so a combo of CJ and Williams could work in the future.

Given the age/injury record/talent of the Nic Nat/Vardy/Hickey group, I wanted a ruckman to pair up with Williams in ~2 years at some point in this draft. So I'm happy in that sense.
