Did he lose respect or gain respect for what he did for his manager and his team this morning? I'm in two minds, more of a loss of respect to Jose, like he'd care what people think of him anyway.. But I love Xabi and respect him as much as anyone, just an interesting thing he's done here.

bit of a dumb thing to do at 4-0 ...

Go Xabi.

He can do whatever he likes imo.

What. A. Man. <3

Very smart tactics although by the special one.

Dirk did a similar thing for us in like 2006 against PSV, it's nothing new.

I think we were 3-0 up in the first leg away from home and Dirk was one card away from a suspension, he deliberately got himself booked in the 2nd half so he could miss the 2nd leg (which we won 3-0 again I think) and then he resumed in the next knockout stage.

Who gives a shit to be honest.

Him and Ramos did what was best for the team, can't begrudge them for that unless they did some cynical foul.

Think you missed the point dude.

Personally I couldn't give a crap if they did it intentionally or not, they weren't endangering any opposition players by flying in with bad tackles to get booked or anything. Nothing to see here as far as I'm concerned.

100% serious. Nothing to do with jose at all.

So you think two players thought they'd take it upon themselves to get a red card regardless of what the coach wants?

It was suggested in the Spanish media yesterday that Mourinho had used Jerzy Dudek, his reserve goalkeeper, to relay a message to captain Iker Casillas that both Alonso and Ramos should earn second yellow cards.

“Dudek was asking me about my stomach problems,” Casillas said. “I told Ramos to keep an eye on one of their strikers, who was a constant threat inside the area.”

^^^^

Yeah sounds plausible...

Dutch television footage also captured Mourinho speaking to Alonso just before the former Liverpool player was awarded his second yellow card, though the Portuguese insisted he “spoke with many players [during the game], not just Alonso and Ramos.”

I seriously hope you are trolling.

These 2 yellow cards which were both blatent and in one case a 2nd attempt at getting a card meant that Ramos and Alonso both missed the following game against Racing Santander. Rather fortunately for the pair it also meant that they would be able to play against Barcelona in the following match.

so unless Jose has been at Madrid since March then I will stick with my nothing to do with Jose comments. These 2 have form in this kind of thing. Only difference is now it was a ucl match.
