Francis Fukuyama famously wrote The End of History. We have seen remarkable stability under the current admin, a settled tribunal process, reasonable growth in participants and an increasingly diverse polity. If I were to posit that NaturalDisaster is a liberal democracy, would you say that Francis Fukuyama was, indeed, correct?
If Francis Fukuyama predicted a settled tribunal process I would have to disagree with their position. Given their interest in Sweet FA, I look forward to seeing them in the sign up thread soon.

How many times do you think posters should joke about beating their wives per week? What about goat *******?
Mate. Jabba73's taken over your role as hypocritical concerned citizen. And quite frankly, he's thus far done a far more entertaining job than you ever did.

How many Beez votes do you have Beez?

Barrybran, one of ND's best qualities (and perhaps to extent weaknesses) was his diplomacy and his concern for others opinions.

You seem to be someone who doesn't care about dissenting opinions and will do whatever you think is right, regardless.
My question to you is, do you feel you will need to temper your attitude to become more open to other people's perspectives, or perhaps limit conflict in certain situations, particularly as admin of the league?

The reason I ask is that although I do not question your intelligence or motives, I do think some aspects of your personality could cause conflict and lead to prickly situations.

What is shitty posting & who are the main offenders?
Low/no effort nonsense. Pretty prime example in the Furies thread this week.

Question is what can you as admin do to address it though. Its one thing to say we need standards raised, but history has shown clubs tend to be very independent on this issue.

That's what the BTGID is for. If people actually use the rule it starts a discussion. You don't want to infringe on people's posting styles too much but you can at least open up a discussion about what is acceptable and what could be improved upon. There's room for antagonism but be creative about it.

Would like to know how the candidates plan on facilitating the selection of their successor. What method will they use to decide if an application gets put up for scrutiny?

How will they help newer members of the SFA understand the various roles and responsibilities they can undertake to help with the running of the SFA?

How will they help train the next batch of people that will preserve the history and progress the league? How will they identify candidates?

That can be solved at a club LG level. The new Admin should be above things like that.

Can the candidates outline what they will do to help the transition of rookies into the league? Every year the leakage of new rookies out of the SFA undermines the hard work done to bring them in.

Instead of focussing on recruitment, would like thought on retention strategies and assistance once someone commits to signing up to play.

Barrybran kdavva Kennedy Parker PMBangers
In terms of retaining rookies the onus would have to primarily fall on the LGs of the teams that recruit them.

There's not a lot the admin can do directly to ensure rookies stick around at a higher rate, in some cases rookies come in then just find the concept isn't really for them and there's not much else you can do.

I think some small scale measures such as an admin giving a welcome message before the start of each season mentioning all rookies and explaining some basic concepts in the league, answers to frequently asked questions, what they can come to expect on a weekly basis should be something that happens.
Perhaps a bit of a basic questionnaire for rookies to be made into a draft combine style profile in order to introduce them to the league could engage them early on.

But at the end of the day, whether rookies stick around will have more to do with the LGs and how they gel with the team they play in on a regular basis.
Hello everyone. It is not my business but I enjoy the league and it's goings on and so I am interested in how this all turns out.

Congrats to the four candidates for putting themselves forward and presenting their cases.

I have several questions to all and one or two to specific applicants.

1 Do you consider the influx of children to be an issue and one the Admin and Committee need to manage?
Your answers should consider the impact of standard hard nosed SFA banter on young folk.

2 Cursing Fijian, OmgFridge, GWS Goose have sparked welcome debate on Quality v Quantity. Yep the two Qs are not mutually exclusive. High volume posters like Metalcrusher often produce gem posts.

Do you accept that spam is an issue especially in Match Threads? Are there devices you would consider such as post limits?
1. No, very few posters in the league are actually minors, those that are known to be minors have basically never had major issues outside of posting some cringe (fully grown adults with existing mental health issues are the ones who generally have issues from hardnosed banter from what I've seen), and how would we even manage it? ID checks on sign-up that would impinge a poster's anonymity on this site? If we ever need to put age-based restrictions on any forum only Chief and site admin would have the capabilities to do that.

2. No. I have no interest in regulating the posting style that people choose to adopt. If it doesn't get the site demonetized or otherwise violents Bigfooty TOS anything goes IMO.
Anyways, back on topic...

What are your thoughts on the current awards?

- the future of the tflua

- the weighting and composition of the all SFA

- anything else you have thoughts on or want to change
TFLUA, honestly I don't think there's anything we can really do to make it a more prestigious award. The best we can do is probably a captain's call by the admin Frankston Rover Award style except it's expected that the admin give a nod to a relatively unheralded position.

All-SFA, with all the data we have nowadays on specific positions I think the All-SFA is in a pretty good spot.

I think expanding some Player voted, posting related awards into fields such as "Best Captain" and "Best Posting Team" to compliment the Beez presentation could be explored. I reckon this might originally be a manangatang idea as well, we'll see how much buy-in it gets from the committee.

1. For players outside of clubs LG the past 3 seasons may seem like things haven’t changed much if you are voted in what would be the biggest change we would notice Round.1 next season ?

2. At the start of the season it was mentioned that all clubs should bring in at least 1 rookie per season, would you bring this in as a rule or leave it for clubs to choose ?

3. Some clubs still have inactive players on their list but can still manage it because squad sizes have a maximum of 27, if you’re voted in would you implement a 22-24 set up ?

4. If squad sizes are reduced and clubs still have 23 active players on their list, what would you implement so clubs can keep the players outside of the 20 engaged ?
1. The OP of the rules thread might look different. Instead of just assuming that what we had the previous season is all good and right, one of the first things I'd be inclined to do is probably review each rule with the committee to ascertain the purpose and how it should be applied.

The second post in the rules thread will provide some guidance notes on each of the rules to explain how the intended purpose of the rule and its interpretation.

2. No. How clubs recruit and manage their lists is their business.

3. I'd go the opposite direction. No matter what list size you have, 20, 24, 27, 40, 50 some percentage of that list will be inactive. I'd increase the max to 30 to allow teams to recruit more aggressively in the offseason and not need to worry about potentially delisting a player that may come back or a player that averages 1-2 posts but will show up each week.

4. Reserves league that gets posted as a curtain raiser to the senior game. I don't think we'll struggle to find additional volunteers for simming and with scheduled posting, the posting aspect will be pretty easy to handle as well.

Would like to know how the candidates plan on facilitating the selection of their successor. What method will they use to decide if an application gets put up for scrutiny?
All of the applications are scrutinised. I understand you feel a bit hard done by but ND did scrutinise your application. There has been discussion as a result about potential experience limits, which I personally feel makes sense but shouldn't be necessary. No admin since the very early days has had less than five seasons' experience and I don't expect that to change.

ND - started S22, admin S31
Ant Bear - started S18, admin S28
Kennedy Parker - started S20, admin S25
Hate - started S18, admin S24
The Filth Wizard - started S16, admin S23

How will they help newer members of the SFA understand the various roles and responsibilities they can undertake to help with the running of the SFA?
Communication! That said, a lot of people are tapped on the shoulder for various tasks because they've demonstrated capability in an area. For those wanting to help, get involved in your LG, write media, write match threads, etc.

How will they help train the next batch of people that will preserve the history and progress the league? How will they identify candidates?
That is an excellent question and one I don't really have an answer for yet. As a stats person, I am particularly interested in the archives and pretty much everyone involved in maintaining them has done so since before my time in the league. There is definitely a need to ensure succession in this area. That said, same as above as far as identifying people. Put out content, make a name for yourself and people will come looking for you.

Barrybran

You singlehandedly saved the Gumbies from extinction, a feat no other poster before you had achieved. You are firm, but fair and rumours suggest you are also quite attractive in real life.

How do you prevent your objective superiority over the other candidates from shifting your focus during this important admin campaign?

Mate, I'm a dick who needs tissues. Didn't you hear?

Tissues are so wasteful. Your dick just needs a dedicated sock or t-shirt.

One of my many admin application-winning policies mate, yes.
