You realise the girls performed as well Catman yeah?

Anyways my ratings for both,

Boys

1. Joshua Ledet - Best performance of both nights me thinks.
2. Aaron Marcellus - Been a fan of his, very very good singer.
3. Heejun - Cant see all the hate, thought he sang great.
4. Creighton Fraker - Dont think he will go well in the comp, but i think he deserves to, will be a better singer than some that will make it.
5. Phil Phil - started average but was fantastic at the end.
6. Jeremy Rosado - nice voice, good bloke, feel a bit like i feel about Creighton.
7. Reed Grimm - Like Reed but it was a bit meh, hope he makes it but.
8. Adam Brock - Solid but not spectacular, dont think he will find the votes.
Equal 9th - Colton Dixon and Deandre Brackensick - Can't see what all the fuss is about with these two. Colton is over rated, and Deandre hits 1 or 2 good notes but the rest is a bit crud.
11. Jermaine Jones - Should have stayed at home, makes me sick the judges gave him a standing O. Only did it cause he come back. Sang it alright but not Standing O worthy.
12. Chase Likens - Boring, best part about taping it is IQ Fast Forward.
13. Eben Frankewitz - needs a few more pre seasons, wish they went with David Leathers Jr instead, he might not have been ready either but i think he would have done better. Shame for Eben cause he's pretty likeable. But pretty painful to listen to.

Girls

1. Jessica Sanchez - Gave Joshua a strong run for best performance of the two nights. Standout.
2. Brielle Von Huegill - Really wanted to hate her but i thought she was outstanding, definitely surprised me.
3. Hollie Cavanough - Didnt realise she had a Pommie accent till tonight, and i didnt know much about her. Started out a bit rough but boy can she belt out a note, smokey to win it with natural improvement, another surprise.
4. Shannon Magrane - Another surprise, thought she was more pitchy on previous nights, but tonight i thought she was really solid.
5. Elise Testone - Reckon she is really good but didnt get the crying, reckon she will definitely make it and is one of the stronger voices.
6. Erika Van Pelt - Surprised again, good voice but dunno whether she will get the support she probably deserves.
7. Jen Hirsh - Pretty disappointing i reckon, never been a huge fan but expected he to be a bit higher.
8. Skylar Laine - Not a huge fan of country but she was pretty solid
9. Hallie Day - Part of me wanted to have her higher than Jen and Skylar, but she was solid without being spectacular. Should get points for being a trooper and marrying the fat ugly bloke, good on her. cant seeing her get any further but she is a good singer.
10. Chelsea Sorell - Decent, and a nice sounding voice, just have others ahead.
11. Haley Johnson - Definately a disaster, which is a shame cause i reckon she's better than that, still kinda hope she makes top 13.
12. Baylie Brown - Horrible Vocal, Outstanding to look at. Interesting how the 3 best looking girls (by a long way) were 10, 11 and 12. Disappointing from the eye candy side of things.

Who i think will make it,

1. Joshua
2. Phil
3. Colton
4. Deandre
5. Heejun

1. Jessica
2. Elise
3. Skylar
4. Jen
5. Shannon

Randy's Pick - Hollie Cavanough
J'Lo's Pick - Aaron Marcellus or Creighton Fraker (Not Sure)
Steven's Pick - who knows, could be Baylie just cause she's hot but i will go with Reed Grimm

Hopefully i get a few wrong, but we will see how we go.

Don't really know any of the girls names, there are too many blondes in there and I get them all confused.

I thought the volleyball player was good, the stunner. And I think another blonde that went after her, or before her, can't really remember.

Thought Brielle was good too.

The Girls - My top 6

1. Elise Testone - One and only - wow ...alll I can say is wow!
2. Hollie Cavanagh - Reflections - had trouble with phrasing and pitch in parts but where the song worked, where she nailed it... she was outstanding
3. Skylar Laine - stay with me - I am not a country fan but I liked how she rocked this one out
4. Hallie Day - feeling Good - great performance
5. Jessica Sanchez - Love you I do - not a great song but she sung it very well.
6. Brielle Von Hugel - Dock of the Bay - very nice performance. I loved the contralto part at the start and then how she blew it out of the park.

7. Jen Hirsh - one and only - sang it beautifully but somehow felt it wasn't the best we have seen her compared to previous performances.
8. Eric Van Pelt: - What about love - I really liked this but it needed a key change near the end to take it the next level. If she had of done this she'd be higher.
9. Shannon Magrane - Go Light Your World - awful song but she did a pretty good job with it.
10. Haley Johnson - Sweet Dreams - come across as a poor karaoke version
11. Chelsea Sorell- - Cowboy Casanova - underwhelming performance
12. Baylie Brown - Amazed - god awful

I am tipping to make it:

From The Guys: Colton Dixon, Joshua Ledet, Phil Phillips, Deandre Falsetto Queen (cos the Judges love him), Heejun Hun (more for his personality than his voice), Jeremy Rosado.

From the Girls: Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine, Shannon Magrane, Jessica Sanchez, Elise Testone, Erika Van Pelt

Heejun made the top 10. You ripper.

So did Phil Phillips, guess he wasn't that bad, eh?

Heejun made it more on his personality than his voice. Phil is worthy to make the top 13 even though his last performance wasn't his best. He is good I agree.

I had to agree with most of Jimmies comments throughout the results show. I think a few of the better singers missed a trick on the top 24 performances with poor song choices and not coping with the pressure and the way the program was staged. I bet a few of those that had pitch problems were mostly due to be not being able to hear themselves on the stage.

But anyway at this stage I am tipping Colton to take it out. I like his indie stylings

Why that big black bass singer guy Jermaine made it is beyond me, but the whole tear jerker thing probably got him the sympathy vote from the public. He wont last long which is a shame because there a couple of males who were much better than him who deserved to make it.

Creighton Fraker and Aaron Marcellus were stiff to miss out. Deandre sounds like a girl and reminds of one of those drag impersonator singers.

The stupidity of the voting American public is the real x-factor in this show

Nice work catman. Bang on the money

Happy with most of the top 13. Not a fan of Jermaine or Heejun. Just feel like they got in for other reasons. Did they ever explain why Jermaine got a late reprieve to make up a top 25? The judges wouldn't have put him through so he gets the last spot in the top 10. Something very weird going on there.

Erika getting through was the biggest relief. She is awesome.

My personal favourites in order at this stage (can always change as they are forced outside their comfort zones).

Eq 1. Erika (she's going to rock out a lot, love it)
Elise (love that rasp in her voice)
3. Skylar (now I can appreciate that sort of country rock)
4. Colton (some indie rock won't go astray)
5. Shannon (not sure, just seems like a likeable kid, not much older than my daughter, maybe that's it. I liked Alaina last year too)
6. Hollie (remember her and felt for her last year, has come a long way from the nervous wreck she was)
7. Phil (should be higher but I dunno, is he a bit knobbish?)
8. Jessica (only because I did not watch much of her in the lead up so holding back my judgment. She was good last night though)
9. Jeremy (nice kid, not a fan of his song stylings though)
10. Joshua (again, haven't watched a lot of his performances, it's just not my genre)
11. Deandre (yeah, couldn't put up with a season of that style)
12. Heejun (novelty value)
13. Jermaine (why is he there?)

I'm either into more rock genres, or voices with a bit of rasp in them or something. Not a fan of poppy ballads, r&b, over the top vocal gymnastics or vanilla copies.

Can see Colton, Shannon and Hollie shifting down in my estimation depending on song choice and Jeremy, Jessica and Joshua heading up.

The other problem I had is that my IQ has been stuffing up so I get broken vocals and pixellation in my recording like I have a bad connection. Happened like every second song really badly. Very hard to listen to a pure singing voice like that.

Quite a talented bunch this year. Pleasantly surprised.

You really don't think Jermaine has a good voice?

You really don't think Jermaine has a good voice?

I think his voice is fine, I just thought a couple of the other guys were better and a better overall pop package that Idol produce. I just can't see at this stage Jermaine making it to the top 5 to be honest. But I wish him all the best and hopes he proves me wrong. The one thing you can count on is that it isn't always the best singer that wins this show and the American public vote is a real x-factor. Maybe he needs to hug his mum and cry every show to garner all that sympathy

All of the girls this year pale in comparison with Pia Toscano. There will never be another like her.:(

Yeah I agree re: top 5. Just not what mainstream music is all about. I am also surprised Creighton didn't make it through as you suggested on the previous page.

Phil 5

Colton 6

Hollie, Skylar 9

Elise 11

Joshua, Shannon 13

Deandre 17

Heejun 21

Erika, Jermaine 26

Surely Joshua is a decent bet at $13, Hasn't put a foot wrong so far, and was a standout for the blokes in top 24.

Centrebet has
I was looking at the USA betting sites as that represents the people who can vote

I agree Joshua has a shot just as long as he can break away from his gospel stylings and go more mainstream. Some of the performers in the past have found that very difficult to do though and they pay for it in the end.

i was just looking at the american sites as well and the ones that seem to value on centrebet are Joshua Shannon and Heejun, all around the 9, 10, 11 dollar mark and overs on ours.

My critique of the top 13 performances

1. Jessica Sanchez - I will always love you (Whitney Houston) - magnificent performance the best of the night by a long way. Sung it flawlessly.

2. Phillip Phillips - Superstition (Stevie Wonder) - turned into his own could have listened to another 5 minutes of it. Rocked it out of the house.

3. Skylar Laine - Where do broken hearts go (Whitney Houston) - the country twist made it a compelling performance. This little fire cracker has real talent.

4. DeAndre Brackensick - Master Blaster (Wonder) - couldn't understand his lyrics too well but I liked his moves and the vibe of the song. Didn't over do the falsetto stuff which made me like him better.

5. Joshua Ledet - I wish (Wonder) - Again was garbling his words to sound all throaty and cool so was oversinging it but I though he did a good enough job to keep his place this week.

6. Hollie Cavanagh - All The Man That I Need (Houston) - She had some real nice sweet moments in her song but I felt it lacked the flair and polish that we seen in Jessica Sanchez's performance. Solid performance without being great.

7. Erika Van Pelt - I Believe in You and Me (Houston) - Whitney Houston songs are not this girls bread and butter. She needs an angry girl Kelly Clarkson type song to rock out and show of her raspy rock voice. I thought she was solid though without being great.

8. Colton Dixon - Lately (Wonder) - again not this kids cup of tea. Started off flat but was able to bring it home strong enough to survive this week. He will shine later in the show when the genre suits him.

9. Jermaine Jones - Knocks Me Off My Feet (Wonder) - He has such a rich tone but if someone like him gets it wrong he is going to be just another boring Kamahl type singer. I found his performance lacked any spark whatsoever and it bored me. Chance for bottom 3.

10. Elise Testone - I'm your baby tonight (Houston) - Jimmy made her change her song which meant she never really found her groove with it. I think they should have let her do the song she knew and this could mean she is in the bottom 3 this week.

11. Heejun Hun - All In Love Is Fair (Wonder) - sounded thin at times as he was trying to sing softly. Pitchy in parts too. I find him a bit weird to be honest and am not sure why he is there. I can still remember that angel speech from last week and I think his angel must be on a break at the moment. Having said that he is popular and he will get through a few weeks but is not top 5 material.

12. Shannon Magrane - I Have Nothing(Houston) - cringe worthy performance in real trouble this week.

13. Jeremy Rosado - Ribbon in the Sky (wonder) - disappointing for the young bloke he started badly and never recovered. Bottom 3 this week may go home.

I think the bottom 3 will be Jeremy, Shannon, and Elise. Jeremy will be cut.

After being throughly impressed with the majority of the top 13 and their work to that point, I was thoroughly underwhelmed by most of the performances.

Getting some singers to sing Whitney or Stevie, completely out of their genres, right off the bat, was only going to serve the r&b/pop types justice and leave the others scrambling to avoid the bottom 2. The choice should have been right up Jeremy's alley though, so he most definitely deserved to go. Shannon too should have made a better fist of her performance as the stylings suited her. Felt for Elise, Erika, they just scrambled. Other rock voices Colton and Phillip did a better job with their Stevie songs, but I feel that Stevie might be able to be interpreted in more ways than Whitney stuff can be.

While Jessica sang I will always love you very nicely, I still preferred the snippet of the song from Ashley Robles at the San Diego auditions. I have since found out that this is Robles signature cover that she has performed since she was 8 or something, so she may have had a lot less diversity than I first thought.

Jermaine hurts my ears and I am still sceptical about how he came to be there. [/conspiracy]

I'm seeing Jermaine and Shannon as not being top 5 material, Hee Jun too. I feel that Elise and Erika just won't get votes regardless of how well they do.

Colton, Phillip, Jessica will ride a wave of popularity. Phillip might get tripped with some of the genres while Colton has more diversity.

No love for Deandre?

On the night or as a performer in general? Not my style at all. I guess I like what I like.

I see you like Phillip Phillips though. Has a bit of the Boss about him IMO, although I use the comparison very loosely with no hope he could ever get into that stratosphere.

Do you reckon the style subsconsciously drew you in?

On Phillip though, last week he seemed a little knobbish. This week I didn't think so at all.
