Disagreed with the Belly stuff, but Sheehan and Healy are two guys who give us a fair go. Wallsy's just a tool. Sheehan demonstrated his knowledge though, how many east coast journo's would know who Ibbotson is?

Gerard Healy said that Tarrant needs to play well this week otherwise he should be in the WAFL and that Pav has to return to the midfield because we desperately lack class in that area. What a champ Healy is, great minds think alike!!!!!! :p

Didnt he also say if pavlich went up to midfield to add the class.
There would be nothing down forward for them to kick to.

Well we'd have two past All Australians for a start.

Tarrant + Farmer + Headland + Murphy/Campbell would be as good or better than quite a few of the forward lines in the comp. Who do the doggies, crows, eagles, demons and pies have in their forward lines?

Belly's near the end and spending a lot of time forward. Crowley, Schammer and Peake aren't in great form, Headland plays forward a lot and Hasleby's injured. Our midfield is basically Josh Carr and Josh Carr.

People are living in a fantasy land if they think that Bell had a good game on the weekend.

His performance on the weekend showed that he was completely underdone and lacked the fitness to run out four quarters of football.

Yes, Peter Bell was brilliant when he had his hands on the ball. But he was out on his feet in the last quater.

I challenge anyone on this board to review the last quarter of saturdays game. Bell spent most of the quarter with his hands on his knees gasping for air. At one stage he was kneeling on the ground gasping for air after a behind. He was ****ed and lacked the stamina to run the game out.

The game on the weekend showed that whilst Belly is brilliant when he has his hands on the ball, the rigours of the moders game require more than a part time training regime.
And Didak cramped up in the third quarter... Your point is irrelevant and already been dispensed with.. Next lunatic please.

Yeah its normally a great watch, even Robert Walls isn't a total w***er all the time - I just forgot about it this week. Its good added content compared to the crap we get dished up on FTA (read The Footy Show).

Bell was always going to be better for the run, lets see how he goes in the final quarter each week over the next month.

The only two players you have ever had anything positive to say about, Schammer and Farmer, combined for 5 possessions in the final quarter. What's their excuse?

Of the bolded players, who stays in instead of Bell when we bring in the new blood?

You've really gotta laugh at the comments re Bell. Gentleman Jeff, do some research into the interchange numbers throughout the match. Then count how many players were available on the bench for Fremantle after quarter time (I'll give you a hint there was 3, Freo were 1 midfielder down). Look at Bells match stats. Gilmore wasn't playing as a midfielder, so how much relief did the midfield get? How many players cramped during this game? Bell did an terrific job given the circumstances. Blame the coach, blame the selection committee, but why the hell would you have a crack at Bell?

Finally, why don't we bring in our alter ego Belkanor to hammer our point home that Bell should retire after round 1?

Come on GJ.. He wasn't nearly as bad as you make out. He'll play himself into good "match" fitness in a few games.....
As far as physical fitness he wasn't noticably of the boil. Did anyone else think he was along with GJ???

He was terrific! GJ just has his hand on it as usual!

ProStats have us down 19 on the 1% and up 19 on errors over Collingwood

Most errors: Des - 9, Crowley - 7, Mark Johnson - 7, Michael Johnson - 6

Des had 5 first touches at the bounce, 5 clearances (Most for the team) (actually just had a closer look and he got the most clearances on the ground) and 5 inside 50's...and or those that love Des 6 contested possessions...more than anyone else in the team :thumbsu: Too many errors though :thumbsd: but this may have something to do with the 10 long kicks he had.

What is this fascination with age all of a sudden?

Age has nothing to do with it
we average just over a measily 2 years over the youngest team big freakin deal.
olympic runners dont hit there top speed until over 25.

The problem is the midfield we have is all the same size an shape and arent built for running which is what the game requires these days.
Then the fact that they lack skill is another concern.

We have the wrong type of players in midfield age means nothing.

We lack speed an skill that is all.

Age is a future concern an long time success of clubs.
Doesnt affect how a team performs in a season.

Some genius reporter from the eastern states who doesnt watch our team play very often looked through the stats and saw avg age an says hmm thats there problem there too old BS.

Now im someone who wants some of our older players out of the team to make for our youngsters but its not because there old.
Its because they lack skill and are slow, they have always been pretty slow there not just slow because there old.
We have youngsters that can bring in skill and speed which is why they need to be playing.
Not because there young.
Palmer, Ibbotson, Mayne are ready to play atleast half a season.
Guys like Hinkley are young but arent ready for AFL only a fool who picks players by age would play him.

I disagree somewhat. Sure it isn't as big as it's made out to be but you can't deny that Johnson, Solomon, Hasleby, Webster, M Carr and McManus in particular are very different now to when they were kids. Time and injuries have taken their toll on their bodies. Sure you can be general and simply say they are slow, but age has been a contributing factor.

Put simply, at 18/19, kids generally have few muscle issues due to their age and as such are not hampered. A bloke at late 20's has a deteriorating body and has taken the brunt of 10 years of AFL footy. Not only has his body suffered many injuries along the way (barring Brad Johnson...freak), but they limit the capabilities of his body

The issue with age and us being the oldest 22 that played is misleading. If we dropped Macca, M.Carr and Mark Johnson we'd be in the sweetspot. Two of those are likely to go from the regular 22 as the year progresses as the Palmers and the Maynes and the Ibbos get a crack.

Add Belly to that for some games and we're a younger side than the Eagles easily.

Farmer is old too would you exclude him from most 22's?
