Andrejs on the chopping block?

Andrejs, no question. Has played more games for Sydney, and cost us nothing (less than nothing actually, since the Bulldogs took Veszpremi out of our salary cap for us) whereas Peter cost us a 2nd round pick.

If we had of gotten Peter a year earlier like we were supposed to, i'm fairly confident he could of made a difference in the GF in 06 though.

Also, i hope that article saying Mumford and Everitt for a 3rd rounder isn't true. On paper GWS are bending us over, but both being uncontracted, what can ya do?

Can't see what benefit his manager gained by broadcasting that information though. Maybe needs a better manager.

Not sure why you'd think that, it seems it's exactly what his manager should be doing, letting everybody know that he is absolutely on the table.

The full audio is on the SEN website and app, but in short it appears that the Swans were waiting for the Buddy deal to get sorted before offering Dre up for trade. The inference is that if the Buddy deal didn't go thru he was a required player and would be offered a new contract. He may well still be a required player, but they are now no longer in a position to offer him a suitable contract, hence he is now on the table.

Everett's manager (but no Lucas a different one?) was quoted in one of the papers saying GWS are very interested as well as WC and stK but GWS have the inside running due to Everitt not having to relocate cities

If Dre picks GWS, will they continue to sook about Franklin and put out another "low pick or PSD, bruh bruh" tweet?

Another Swan in GWS' sights
Fresh from signing the Sydney Swans premiership-winning ruckman Shane Mumford, GWS is now considering adding Andrejs Everitt to its list.
Everitt played 20 matches in 2013, including all three of the Swans' finals, but is off contract and is exploring his options following the signing of Lance Franklin.
The Daily Telegraph reports Everitt has spoken to West Coast and St Kilda, but favours remaining in Sydney, where he has spend the past three seasons.

I think you missed the fairly obvious sarcasm in the post my friend.

Ring any player manager and ask about any player and I'll bet you they'll tell you that they have "several" clubs inquiring about that player's availability/interest in a trade. They may even have several "offers" on the table they are considering.

Can't we use GWS' interest in Everitt to our advantage?

If they are going to do us over with Mumford, we play hard ball giving them Everitt? Couldn't we theoretically pick him up with our first round PSD pick if he chooses to go there?

I wouldnt have thought so, Everitt will be a take it or leave it sort of player for GWS.

And I'm still missing the 'obvious' sarcasm.

Nevertheless, the issue here is not about what his manager is doing or not doing, the clear inference is that the Swans cannot keep Dre whether they wanted to or not if they have to pay him anywhere near his worth. They need to move him on and bring a draftee on board with a draftees wage.

How come Nick Smith's return to Melbourne didn't eventuate?

Most likely because he's contracted, highly regarded by Sydney and any approach would of been met with a "f@&k off".

Just because Melbourne clubs are finally seeing how good he is and want him, doesn't make it so.

They probably need to remind him that if he wants one of those shiny medallions they hand out on the last Saturday in September, this is the club he wants to be at.

Clearly the sarcasm wasn't obvious enough "my friend". The news on the AFL website is mere speculation - Channel 10 ran a news story on it last night with no solid evidence at all.

Well I'd much rather have Dre on the list than not considering what happened this season. Tall, fast, defenders who can play on the wing and kick a clutch goal after the siren from 50m are worth having. Whatever development ticks they might have needing to be ironed out.

Especially as we are likely to get nothing for him.

I know they are uncontracted yada yada but that is a reaming beyond reaming..

I dont get it, anything we get for them is worthwhile as they are uncontracted, thinking we are getting 'reamed' doesnt make sense to me when they can go for nothing. Free Agency is here...if we want to keep people, we need to sign them before contracts expire otherwise we shold expect to give them up for nothing. It's not a trade scenario as such.

So the "hey, let's all find the next Jessie White to bag out... Hrm, Tommy Walsh... Tony... Dre.... choices choices" has started ey?

I believe all 3 of those guys mentioned have improvement in them however Tommy was cut down through no fault of his own. To call him a spud and useless based on next to no real game time and ability to adjust to the elite level is bewildering to me. Cutting him down before he's even been given a good chance would be like saying well that young Goodes didn't magically light it up in his first season sooooo......

And as for Tony & Dre they, unlike Tommy, have been given opportunities and for some reason or another have marks over certain parts of their skill/role/abilities etc etc. That's fair given both have had a chance to grab the bull by the horns and get on board. But I suppose at the end of the day how much more will we get from a Draftee? We're asking the question, do we want players that have been on our list that we have invested time into learning our game style etc or would we rather start fresh (at a much lower salary) and mould a new draftee from scratch? The risk is we let go a player with experience, some development at AFL level and potential for an unknown with no experience and no development.

I trust our list managers and recruitment guys to make the right call either way.
