Gaff should take the money. There is no guarantee or even a siginifucant chance if finals let alone success. I can foresee gaff staying and wce fall down the ladder due a much harder draw as a result of their high finish position. Gaff will have to endure a tough final gew years. There is no cure for regret. He should gking to melbourne as melbourne has got one more gear and in 2019 lever fully fit with gaff will take melb to another level. He is 26 at the prime. If he comes to us then with josh kelly at the end of 2019 and perhaps david swallow 2020 is the flag year.

Wow Rad you are a glass half full sort of guy aren't you. The only way is up for Norths and the only way is down for the Eagles!

Dont worry you blue and white paws about the Eagles. They have a very nicely balanced list across all lines and ages. The club misses finals eveey now and again but knows how to rebuild and with a shinny new stadium and a brand new training base and facilities Im sure players wont be too unhappy being at a long term successful club.

very balanced indeed, let's see, struggle at MCG, maybe down at Blundstone Arena and occasionally down at Ethihad...........He Gaff just have to look at Jason Johannessian, signed a 5 year deal but now he is stuck at bulldogs where there are other teams that have moved past them...

Can West Coast afford to fit both Gaff and McGovern into their salary?

Yes as long as they dont demand ridiculous coin.

Gaff offered $750 for six years.

Gov they could pay around $850-$900k.

Naitanui is out of contract next year and he will continue to get those marketing and AFL ambassador tops ups I feel his base either wont increase or come back a tad.

The Gaff offer is very competitive and in tabling that the Eagles are saying to get Gaff as a FA a club will need to pay well over market rates or trade for him.

We can’t afford the monster offers for both. But we can pay them by sounds of it, approx 850 each.

Which is decent and it’s different sort of cap squeeze as we go hunting elsewhere really hard if we lose one.

There is not much point matching gaff’s 1.1mill if that makes him highest paid and isnt our most important player. That 1.1 mill can be used to hunt a Cripps or coniglio.

and a FA?

Word on the street is St Kilda and North Hobart are both sniffing around Polec and offering him $850k per annum. I do think that's absolute bullshit for a wide variety of reasons but the main takeaway is that both clubs were in for Gaff and now they're looking elsewhere.

Gaff to Melbourne.

Polec is a SA boy who left the Lions to move home, why would he leave the Power and move to Melbourne?

You have just listed many of my "reasons of a wide variety to assume it's bullshit" but people on the Port board who are genuinely ITK are saying that it's got legs. Again, both were in for Gaff, and now they're looking at Polly, so I'm assuming that Gaff has made up his mind already or is close to it.

If Carlton want to start getting competitive again, this is the guy they should go after (along with Shiel).
If Melbourne want to challenge for the flag in the next few years, this is the guy they should go after.
Gaff is ideal
Take best available with our top 3 pick
Take shiel next year as a FA
