Agreed. Excellent performance by Mack. Both he and Josh Hunt stood up tonight in an otherwise leaky defence.

Yep, he is one of the senior players who earned their pay tonight. Just wished he'd held that mark in the goal square late in the last Q.

Good season from Mackie!

good thread.

I actually thought Josh Hunt was just as good too, his last few weeks have been very good.

But Mackie had probably his best AFL season; didn't get a nomination for the 40-man AA squad, and even did surprisingly poorly in this very board's MVP count, but I reckon he has really got the best out of himself, and you can't ask for much more of a player than that.

Never seen Mackie fly so high in that last qtr. Agree he had a really solid year, gave a lot more drive out of the back half and loved his opportunities to creep forward like tonight.

Yeah, thumbs up Mackie. You could tell he really wanted to get the boys up during that first quarter. Tried hard all night.

My 2008-early 2011 whipping boy.

Career-best season, solid as a rock. Would have taken a lot of hard work so deserves all the praise.

I went to school with him when I was a kid. One of the best games I've ever seen him play in the AFL. Nothing beat seeing him go absolutely nuts at quarter time.

Glad to see this thread here. He was without a doubt our best tonight. Was hoping it would inspire the usual suspects, but Andrew stood alone as fighting to the very end and actually making a difference when he touched the ball.

I loved how he just refused to concede defeat, was trying to win it right til the end, played with passion and desperation which was lacking in a few teammates tonight.

well done Mackie!

I voted him 3rd in the B&F and was very, very surprised to see he only gained like 3 or 4 votes
He's been terrific most of the season but he showed great heart tonight.

me to on both counts. had him 3rd, and surprised at 4.5...

why so low you think?

He became a terrific offensive weapon off the half back flank and I rarely saw him beaten in a game.
Maybe it's the fact he's not a brute of a man and lacks the strength to compete with the big forwards but he's got better and better with age

hes always been a whipping boy. i guess a lot of posters just take a while to warm back up? that, and often its hard to give votes to him when chapman, kelly, selwood, hawkins, bartel, SJ etc are constantly playing good games...

flys under the radar a bit.

honestly though, mackie only polling in two games is bizarre.
