Do you guys remember Ansett?

When Ansett was first formed, they placed customer service first. Reg Ansett knew that this was the way to conduct an airline.

Over time though, the airline got into the hands of business-school types who were more interested in making a profit than silly trivialities like ensuring that customers were happy. What happened? Funnily enough, they're now defunct.

The same thing has happened to Cricket Australia. Whatever the flaws of past administrations, they were at least reasonably successful at keeping the Australian cricket team on top of the world. Now however, we have a CEO who is one of those 'business-school' types. Unsurprisingly, the people under him are more interested in maximising profits (like the rise in domestic T20's) than ensuring that our team performs with a modicum of competitiveness, at the very least. This will probably have a deleterious effect on longer-term profits, as people stop attending Test matches and focus on other sports, amongst other things. As such, unless comprehensive changes are made (like dismissing the obvious culprits first before going through the organisation), cricket in Australia, whilst not becoming defunct, will fade in significance. Do we really want that?

As fans, what can we do? Set up an online petition to expel Sutherland, Hilditch, Nielsen and co and replace them with favoured personnel, like Liverpool supporters are doing to Roy Hodgson? Does anyone have any ideas?

Sutherland has to go first then the new guy will rid us of Hilditch Ponting Clarke et al.

Lol.

We lost a test series to a more talented and disciplined side.

This after one of the most dominant eras in Australian cricket and the game for that matter.

Some people really need to stop and smell the roses.

Carolyn style.

Losing is one thing. Getting utterly annihilated is quite another.

The lack of discipline, I would say, is at least partially down to the administration and the coaching style...and are the likes of Tim Bresnan really more talented than Mitchell Johnson? Or Andrew Strauss to Phil Hughes? Saying that there is a lack of talent is wrong, IMO.

Our administration has placed more emphasis on T20 games and less on SS matches, all in the name of profit. The effect of this is telling. If other posters are correct, there is also less emphasis on grassroots development than there was.

Some people really need to stop and smell the roses.

There are few roses to smell at the moment. The issues with our team are repairable, but I think we need a tear-down.
