Same thing innit?
If that were the case, why does the Labor Party and the Greens Party welcome Islamic extremism to our shores, divert discussion away from the dangers of Islamic extremism and appeal to violent Islamic extremist governments, like the Terrorist-run Palestine?

We've had a bipartisan immigration policy for longer than most of us have been alive. Don't be a twat.

Calling it ‘Islamic terrorism’ would tar all muslims with the same brush, much as the Coalition’s clumsy messaging around China over the past couple of election cycles made Chinese Australians feel they were being targeted by the coalition.

By identifying it as connected to ISIS, which it seems that it was, it means that the vast majority of Muslim people who aren’t law-abiding and add value to our nation aren’t going to be connected to this atrocity

Yep, 100% agree.

They all play a part within a balanced political system.

Even the nutjobs like Pauline (IGA) have a place.

The sooner the LNP can split, the Teals can tear away at the center of the ALP and we can actually have a mature discussion with everyone representing themselves within a party that is a true reflection of their political views, instead of hiding in the factions of parties that give them the best chance at political success.

The better.
Further to that, no more preferences. Minor parties need to have a much greater voice and not just listening to ALP/LNP/Greens etc.

And no more astroturfing.

I'm just the only one keeping track of the Overton window shifting further and further to the left. One side of politics welcomes fundamental islam to Australia, that used to not be normal.
You are either a troll or you're not well in the ****ing head.

I went onto X to see the sort of garbage being posted on the Bondi incident and the amount of lies and misrepresentation is out of control. The thing Elon and Trump have been frustrated with the mainstream media.

Incorrectly labelled images
Out of context images and comments, posts, time frames (The same bs they harped on about with the Kirk Assassin by taking a comment out of context)
Blatant lies about things that were said, or happened.

I'm not even sure how much content on X is driven by AI bots and how much by key power players but I think South Park had an episode on exactly how it all worked. You've got the power players, then the people just fueling the system. Saw one post from a guy taking something completely out of context, then repeating the same line at anyone who disagreed.

I think X has devolved so far that it's beyond practical use. Basically it's a toxic eco chamber to give more power to conservatives. The amount of hate for Albo is not truly representative of the countries overall opinion of him as a leader.

Getting rid of preferential voting would be a horrible outcome and probably consolidate the major parties.

Also why are you lumping a minor party like the Greens in with ALP/LNP?

Same on any social media, check Facebook or Insta comments sections it's either flooded with bots or the absolute dregs of society.

Yes, there was a video up on Facebook last night and 150 top comments were all along the lines of "I can't put my finger on it", "I wonder what the common denominator is"

These are either fake accounts, bots, dumb people who can't think for themselves and just follow the crowd or people using multiple accounts or a combination of any of the aforementioned. I keep seeing the same copy and paste comments all over the place and not just for politics. You watch a sparring video for BJJ with a female and a male and there's always that comment "Bro was fighting two battles at once" Like it's probably a combination of bots, and ****ing morons who can't think for themselves.

The level of racism and homophobia has gotten out of hand and Meta won't do anything about it so it's not entirely just X that's the problem. Most of these people on the Hanson side want everyone deported and they're so ****ing naive. How do they think Australia and The United States were colonized. There was a video in the UK a while back and some British guy is racially abusing an Indian and the comments are:"Buy this man a beer". Then you see a story about a transgender woman being stabbed and it's the same garbage. Social media companies don't give a shit about ethics they only give a shit about maximum revenue at all costs.

I feel like it's a little column A and a little column B. I'd like to think it's just bots but I also think the medium dictates this level of discourse (read a book Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman years ago on this talking about TV - would love to see a modern version that looked at the impact of internet/ social media on political/social discourse).

Anyway topic for another thread

Lol, when I read something like that I always look at the username

Anyone would think anti-semitism only started in this country when Albo became p.m.
It's just political opportunism.

Whether Labor will maje the mistake of being cowed by it or not remains to be seen.

Wheeling out the old geriatric war criminal Howard really gave the game away.

How about the policy on recognizing states run by Terrorist organizations? Is there bipartisan support there?
Which terrorist org? The government clearly stated that it would not recognize a state run by Hamas.

But I guess it is not really a point highlighted in whichever echo chambers you inhabit

Except they have and it is. Need to walk it back, at least until Hamas can be persuaded to leave. As if.

Just on Senator Hanson's rant...

It would appear that the two men responsible for Sunday's horrific mass-murder were "law-abiding gun owners" right up until the point they started shooting them at people. Had they committed a crime up until that point?

And that's the ever-loving point.

They attended a terrorist training camp in the Philippines last month. No one knows what goes on in people’s heads, what conversations they are having in their homes.

It doesn’t take much for unchecked inflammatory rhetoric to take hold, and that’s what’s happened over the past two years, emboldening and urging someone to turn the rhetoric into action.

I'm not across all the detail of our anti-terrorism laws, but I reckon that's not a quick thing to build a case for and prove.

On the other hand, they could have just not had the guns they had.

Well, cleverer people than you and me are following the trail

Why do the LNP/PHON/Other Cookers invite the hatred of people who now want to have "f&*ck off we're full rallies"?
