This useless center right corpo plonker's reluctance to use his gifted mandate to do anything substantial for the country will drive the people to do crazy shit like vote One Nation
This should be the story people are learning.

If the major parties in western democracies continue to choose corporate donors over their constituents, don't be surprised or critical when they turn to a stupid populist platform.

The more career politicians who lose their elections over this, the better.

HAHA, the one Hawks supporter I nearly put on ignore came good. Maybe a few breaks from Bigfooty and they got the message.
I've come to the conclusion that every fan base has their crazies and have various views. Including the ones I'm part of.

Like there's a few hard right wing folks that are fellow Liverpool supporters in this forum, from a club that's in a heavily left wing progressive working class city.

Given the history of the club and city, and all the conversations I've had with locals in person when I visited there and online, I just don't get why the folks I mentioned would support the club in the first place.

There's plenty of racist right wing clubs across England and Europe that would fit their values systems a lot better. cough Millwall or Chelsea 🤣

I'm a West Ham fan.

Don't make excuses for people's ignorance. If someone's answer to Labor not doing enough for the working class is to vote for the person whose voting history is entirely against the working class and funded by Australia's richest person, then they are an idiot and it should be fine to let them know.

Also helps if some of us get out of our bubble occasionally. While we want Albo to do more, plenty of others are easily spooked and prefer incremental change. I can tell you, anyone who is on regular medication will tell you he has done something substantial for the country by bringing down the cost of medications. There's been positive change in childcare too that a lot of middle class people take note of.

Social media is manipulated but toxic negativity is more prevalent than positivity

I don't follow soccer enough to know what tbat means
That's fair. But there's certainly political elements within many European clubs and rivalries. Some more than others. Whereas we don't have that nearly as much here. Which isn't a bad thing, just something I've noticed.

Only club side to win the World Cup, can be a touch fashy in places, likely going down this season.
If yous' go down one of the good things will be we'll get a Dockers' Derby, I think it's called. There hasn't been one for yonks haha! I think you'll stay up tho, Nuno is the best manager out there at survival in the Prem atm and is getting a tune from several of your best players.

Wow! Damned with faint praise.
It's a bit like saying I prefer Carlton compared to Collingwood I guess 😂 I've come across a couple of West Ham fans and they've been sound.

But outside the two I mentioned most of the other London clubs aren't distinctly left or right wing. A bit like the Melb clubs here. Or like saying I prefer Labor to Liberal, but that's faint praise too really as I hate both at this point 😂

I agree that people who vote ON has no copout, but it makes it easier to create an environment where hate and bigotry can thrive when people don't see any hope. Cost of living and appliances cost going up will continually be the issue, if people don't see any relief in that then they will lash out.

Billionaires and corporations around the world responsible for the rising cost of living and AI bullshit driving prices up are also funding these far right parties all around the world to use immigration as a distraction so that people don't see it's the billionaires that are screwing them. ON and Pauline are just the Australian branch of the same bullshit

We need someone who'd correctly turn the heat back on corporate oppression being the main reason for the working class woes, but center right parties beholden to said corpos treading water while they are in government aren't gonna be the ones to do it. I fear that the AI bubble inevitably bursting will drive people to do something insane

Reason is that there was a Hawks guy who kept being argumentative but has chilled out so they're ok now. Some people just need time to understand how Bigfooty works best.
There used to be a Hawks supporter on these threads who made great arguments, open-minded, willing to back his arguments with stats or logic.

On the footy threads, he was incapable of anything but deranged venom when the topic was one L. Franklin moving to Sydney.

Exactly. Usually when Labor is in power, it’s “FMD they’re trying to do the right thing and they could do so much good for this country but they’re so hamstrung by the numbers in parliament.”

Now they’ve got the sort of numbers in parliament that any politician dreams of, and they’re urinating this opportunity up against the wall. Absolutely criminal waste.

History will not be kind.

You're assuming the Parliamentarians' goal is to get something done to improve the lives of Australians.

The ALP Parliamentarians exist to keep themselves in power and to protect their Union power-bases at the expense of other Union power-bases.

Yes, how quaint and old-fashioned of me!

'we need someone'.

You realise that searching for 'someone' to save us is more a threat than an answer for a democracy - especially in the long term and especially for those without power, resources and influence?

It's why the founding fathers were so focussed on delivering an electoral system that delivered majority solutions that necessarily resolved themselves in the middle ground of contemporary politics instead of the ends.

We have a political system where government and power is only achieved by bringing together people with differing perspectives on what is right for their supporters, communities and interest groups; based on differing experiences knowledge and understandings. Political power is never rested with an individual but a compromise.

It's definitely true that this rarely delivers the optimal solution - economically, socially, environmentally - both in the short and the long term. You don't have to look hard or far to see it's failures - sometimes catastrophic.

But my considered belief is that it is the best system of western democracies given our history, geographical location and history.

For those wanting to burn the place down and flirt with the ideological simplicities of false populist prophets like Pauline Hanson et al, I just have this to say. Be careful what you wish for.

All this ONP love has been heavily pushed by some rich mofos. Go to the Facebook pages and the first 10 comments are mined for likes with copy and paste style comments. Users usually have a simple profile photo and a generic sunset shot in the background. 200 friends, 12K posts or something like that. Clearly just an alt account. There's mass manipulation on social media which is giving influence to ONP.

It's like buying a car though, just because I walk into a car yard and express interest in a car, doesn't mean I'm going to buy it. I've said it before that when it comes to crunch time ONP won't nearly be as influential as it currently seems.

When it comes to actually voting I'm not convinced ONP really has that much support across the country.

Labour has smashed the LNP at state and federal elections…
Now one nation is going to continue to smash them by stealing what ever votes they have left… giving the rise to Independents where Labor doesnt even have a chance….
Independants have a strong history of keeping their seats… especially regionally.
The SA election and the Farrer by election will see the LNP on its knees.
