I'd expect that sort of comment from El Presidente. :D

Get some balls you weak &#$%. Of course you should go, try not being a fair weather supporter. Its easy to be a front runner and support your team when its going along swimmingly, a true supporter follows under any circumstance.

Two games that I went to and I didn't think we were going to win were the 1982 GF and the 1999 Prelim - what a f**ken buzz when we won both games.

Get along and support the baggers.

We were always going to win the 1982 GF. Sure Richmond beat us by 23 points in the second semi final, but we went into that game minus the Dominator (thank you squealer Polkinghorne) & Bosustow, who were both suspended. Prior to the GF I said to a Richmond supporting, work colleague of mine that the Dominator & Buzz were worth 7 goals to the Carlton side & that was why we would win. Sure enough we won the GF by 3 goals, a 7 goal turnaround (I must admit I felt pretty chuffed when it turned out that way).

I have asked that same question to myself in past few days.

The thought of Fraser,Kosi & Riewoldt rag dolling our defence into submission is something I'd prefer to watch in my loungeroom.

It looks like we agree to disagree on that one especially seeing that we had no Southby and Austin going into the GF either. The Tiges gave us a big touch up in the 2nd Semi and it brought out some of the old scars within the team, they may have shown their hand too quickly with Cloke and Roach swapping key forward positions. I still remember the lead-up quite clearly and the Tiges were raging favourites. We jumped them by 3 goals at the start which ended up being the winning margin.

When i question myself as to whether or not to attend this weekends match, i think back to a certain game. Round 11, 2006 Subiaco. We, the worst team in the competition went over to Subiaco to take on eventual Premieres West Coast on a ground they don't lose on. West Coast went into that game with odds of $1.04 to win, Carlton's odds were $13 for a win.

The young inexperienced and doubted Carlton got to something like 44 points up. In the end we lost, to me, the most painful loss i have encountered following Carlton.

However, this game is proof. On any given day, any team can beat any team regardless of talent - who here expected the Blues to step all over West Coast like that on that Sunday Afternoon?

I hope we stick it up the Aints on Saturday Night - i'll be there!

If the last 6 years have taught you anything its that you dont turn up to watch the Blues in this era to expect a win. You turn up to watch hope converted into on-field presence, poise and our overall future.

Its about watching our young players coming through at a hoped for better pace now that we have funds and development coaches; its about watching our new Captain lead when we had limited leadership before; its about our returned from injury warriors coming through and challenging themselves to pick up the pace.

Id love a win. I really would. I'd love to see Murphy, Gibbs, Grigg, Setanta, Edwards and Jackson make best players just as much.

Oh damn, I thought I'd erased that game from my memory.

That one bloody hurt. Really thought we were gonna pull it off.

To see Carlton V Saints, apart from the joy of just watching ur team do we have ne chance of winning? I went to the game against Richmond and was dissapointed, not just with the loss, but i hate following a team where the players dont play like there lives depend on a win.
Hampson and Fisher should return.

We won't get smashed IMO, but I think we will lose.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a similar game to the first meeting with them last year. Close for 3/4 then they will pull away in the fourth, unless Judd, Stevo and Hadley find some legs in the fourth and the kids stand up a bit.

is this even a real thread? are you even a real supporter?

of course there is a point in going, what after one game you are willing to throw in the towl. We would bitch about our players doing this so don't as a supporter start.

I live in Brisbane and I am jealous of how you guys have the opportunity to go to the games. Go, be proud and support the boys through all the up and downs.

go blues

I'm guessing not many expected us to beat Port at TD last year, but that victory was sweeeeeet! then when we all thought we might back it up and roll the hawks we were brought back to earth (though it felt more like hell frozen over!)

I will be there
1. because I don't want to miss a possible victory over the Saints (doubtful, but if it happened this would be a symbolic end to half a decade of thrashings at their hands);
2. Judd...you can't help but enjoy watching him play
3. Stevens returning to fitness
4. Hampson - exciting
5. Waite vs Riewoldt
6. A possible Fish return (doubtful)

but really:
7. because I love this club and team and even when we lose I still love my Blues!

Im about 300kms north so I don't often get to games, and far be it from me to tell you if you should go or not.

But...in my time following Carlton I have been fortunate enough to live through 4 Premierships (alright...only two I can remember), a couple of gut wrenching GF losses, and plenty of finals campaigns.

My point is that despite the current state of play, the Carlton Football Club has given me plenty to enjoy over the years, far more than your average Geelong, Bulldogs, Melbourne, Richmond, Collingwood, Sydney and St Kilda supporter. Supporting a club is a two way street.

So to anyone thinking of jumping off the bandwagon, good riddance, the club doesn't need you. Im sure Richmond will welcome you with open arms.

Mate you are kidding, i don't care how badly we're going, i don't want anyone jumping off any team and trying to come to us. No-one should ever feel like they can do that with good conscience. You support one team win, lose, draw or die!!!!

this thread has nothing to do with lossing, i said i wasnt dissapointed with the loss in round 1, but dissapointed because i dont think we tried our best, im asking is there any point of going to the game when in round one we tried at about 80% of our best and got rolled by a less talented team that wanted to win more.
