In the geelong cup theres a small arb opportunity.

Americain is 8.50 at centrebet and sportsbet and is being layed at 8.40 with betfair

Not sure how it all works or if its worthwhile with betfairs commision, but I thought i'd let you all know just incase :thumbsu:

$8.4 is about $8.8 on the lay side if your commission rate is 5% so that doesn't work.

Yeh thought it might have been to low...

Saw another one today. At grafton race 1 mossy dell was $54 at vic tab and $50 lay on betfair. Only lasted about 1 minute though.

What's the best calculator to work out how much to put on each to maximise your profit?

Theres a big one at the moment. Once Were Wild is $201 at sportingbet and $180 lay on betfair.

Okay, you need to settle down a minute because if you think you've discovered the next get rich quick scheme then you're wrong.

Firstly, you can't 'arb' with the TAB as the prices are fluid unless you are betting with the fixed odds arm.
Secondly, how much you want to lay on betfair depends on :
a) how much is in your account (that's the big one) ?
b) how much the better wants to bet ?

In your last example if the punter wanted $5 at $180 you would need $900 in your account to accommodate the bet.

As far as needing a calculator is concerned, well when you are trying to exploit margins of 0.05% (your $180/$200 example) then you are going to need a lot of money to make it worthwhile - and again you then need to consider how much you can either lay or bet against that horse on betfair so its not simply a matter of throwing money at the problem to get the solution.

Personally, I don't consider getting the best of two sides unless there is at least a 6.00% margin in it for me. And even that's pushing it.

How about the fact I just laid Pinker Pinker on Betfair to win the Oaks ($39 @ $50) even though she wasn't in the latest round of acceptances? :)

Got plenty in my account so was happy to lock the money in for a couple of weeks to guarantee myself a free slab.:thumbsu:

 lol im not even betting on anything just going over some form guides and seeing the odds available. Thought I would share incase it was worth anything for anyone. Sounds to boring for me with to much money tied up for little return, i'd rather have a punt.
