They.

Are.

Not.

Umpires.

If an umpire makes a clear error in NOT calling a no ball, it is not Joe Root’s job at second slip to guess whether the bowler was behind the line.

Yup. And honestly, we all got plenty of laughs out of it, so that's enough :D.

Yep, any lead on this pitch the bigger the better with our attack, and Englands fragile mindset. Go for the throat. 200 lead would be nice and Smith will have a big say in that.

I can't see any other way of trying to squeeze out a positive result

Bat till we get out I swear if we declare I’ll go nuts

I asked because I'm not yet convinced that Smith doesn't go all T20 once they get a lead... Then declares with 30-45 minutes left today with say an 80 run lead!

why do so many people not understand the concept of an all rounder., you know it's been around a while. Traditionally australians have been less enourmred with the concept than other countries.

Judging an all round that they have got to perform with the bat and ball in every single innings is a absurd standard that don't work even for straight batman.

All rounders are a rubbery concept, what you lose in one department you get back the other , sort of occasionally. It's matter of the whole package , team balance, the conditions, the opposition.

Maxwell just isn't a useful bowler in most conditions. Mitch Marsh was the best available all rounder, not saying much the competition was not strong.

When you have 5 bowlers one is nearly always under used. Saying that he only bowled 9 overs therefore a bad selection Batting all rounders are preferred generally because of this.

Well why do people carry around spare tires. If you make a single trip and don't need it not a convincing argument that you should take it out the car as a waste of space.

People DO understand the concept of an all-rounder. They just view as extra quality batsmen as more worthwhile than an all-rounder that's not particularly great at batting of bowling though. He's batting well though.

God, Healy raves on with some inane babble. He must think it’s compulsory to fill every space with over analytical, unnecessary drivel. He must be getting paid by the word. Most times less talk is best.

He's happy to be in the side, he really really is. Done well with the bat, he really really has. That was a tremendous shot, it really really was

I totally agree, and if people were criticising him on that basis I would have no problem with it. This is also something that is unsurprising to people who have watched the Shield - his shoulder injury and bowling load made it obvious his bowling would be underdone.

The Maxwell crap is a total distraction though. Marsh did not beat out Maxwell for a spot in the team; he beat out Moises Henriques. Few people would argue that was the wrong decision.

Whether the side needed a fourth paceman is a totally different discussion, and has little to do with Mitchell Marsh as a player.

I agree, but also disagree. Sure, he beat Henriques from the selector's standpoint, but I think the question for most supporters is whether we actually NEED an all-rounder though. Like, is Maxwell's batting ability worth it if we have him bowling a few overs instead of an all-rounder? Whether Smith uses him is another issue, but frankly, if one of our paces bowlers goes down, we're probably ****ed, regardless of whether Marsh is in the side or not.

Really?

Any more Marsh's we can get into the team? Can Brad Sheppard bat?
Get the bat into the hands of Austin Marsh? (Shaun's son)
