News Ashton Hams to retire...

More depatures are expected as early as next week. Other opportunist small forward contenders Brad Dick and Murray Newman are expected to be sacked as well as even more regular sharp-shooter Josh Hill as Worsfold continues a harsh review of his playing list ahead of next month’s trade period and the November national draft.

Back-up ruckman Callum Sinclair is another struggling Eagle tipped to leave.
What a shit article.

Woosh wielding the axe. About time he stops being Mr Nice Guy.

Dumbfounded by this to be honest. Struggling to comprehend why he would retire.

Delist him sure but retiring from AFL at that age with no big injury concerns is stupid I think. All because he doesn't want to play for the East Perth Eagles. Good luck to the smoked Hams but.

As for the rest of the article it's mostly Hagdorn tripe. Can see Newman getting cut no matter what happens in the court case, I hope Dick doesn't get cut because he does have something to offer at AFL level, as much as I think Hill is a player who beats up on lesser opposition and can't bring that form into the bigger games he will stay on the list I think and Sinclair should be retained as well as long as he wants to stay on the list

hams has done well to play as many games as he has.right place ,right time.can see the eagles picking up a specialist small forward especially if 1 of hill or dick go too.
dayle garlett anyone?

Maybe he has realised he'd be a chance for the Sandover if he plays 22 WAFL games

Thanks for the effort and all the best to him :thumbsu:

If Sinclair goes - we must keep McGovern

Let's assume that Essendon is the destination - they don't have much to offer, perhaps a disgruntled player

I'd rather keep Callum than get pick 40

We'll be using pick 40/42 anyway.

What about other spuds like McGinnity and Dalziell? McGinnity's skills are about u14 standard. We always complain about not having outside players like Hill and Gaff and then carry on about how weak they are as tacklers. C'wood seem to be able to make something of Marley Williams whereas Newman who does the same thing is too much for us. Have queries on player management, esp indigenous players.

I don't rate Sinclair but I expect the club would do their best to talk him into staying, and will probably upgrade him.

Newman delisted would be very disappointing unless he were rookie listed again. I can understand why Hill is in the gun but I expect him to stay on as depth. Dick is no surprise, even if it is disappointing.

However this is the most concerning line of the article:

Hams has already been linked with a possible switch to Swan Districts to lay with brother Kyle.

However this is the most concerning line of the article:
Noticed that. I wonder if we should introduce that tactic next season - laying down. The whole side attempted it tonight.
