If someone owed you $150 say......

They hadnt paid you back in a month and they work in the same building as you.

What do you think would be the best way to ask for the money ?

Best way? Don’t lend it to them in the first place other than that, no idea. Hate asking people for money if they owe it to you, hence never lend it out.

Only person i lend money to is my girlfriend (and then most of the time is a give not a loan)

"Hey mate! How's things? See the Bombers smash Collingwood on Friday night?

Hey, can I get that $150 back you owe me?"

Then see what happens from there. If he doesn't pay, give him two more days, then that's it.

No need to justify why you want it back, what you need it for.

Maybe put up signs at work with his photo saying that he owes you money and can't be trusted.

A roundhouse snap kick to the jaw is normally a good start.

Just pretend you really need it back. If he doesnt give it back hes a knobhead then

Agree. Inevitably you end up coming out of it a prick.... and you're the one doing the favour ! That's what banks are for..... they lend us hundred's of $k and we all (generally) still think they are a pack of *****.... thus proving the theory.

As for lending to the GF, well.... that's a different story of course, so long as it's paid back "in kind :p:eek:".

Love the way you think:thumbsu: but yeah, just remind him and ask for it. I agree that it's akward, the generous person always ends up coming off as the greedy prick who wants his/her money back.

It is especially hard when you are always lending small amounts of money. I had a stingy mate who would never buy anything. People were always lending him $2 and $5 over a period of a few years. It would sound ridiculous to ask for the money back the next day but in the big picture I'm sure he would have owed about $300ish by the end of Year 12.

I find people who always ask for money are gamblers. Always blowing their paychecks at the pokies to try to pay back people they've borrowed money from....why they never seem to have the ability to pay you back, tho they work in the same building, and get a paycheck same time as you.

Once you lend someone (or one of those types of people) any money, they always try to hit you up again even IF they ever pay you back the first, second, third time. Even if they still havent paid you back the first time.

I hate that, should put it in the Things That Shit Me thread. First it's "Hey, it was only $5", then "C'mon it was only $10" and before you know it they owe you hundreds of $ and don't see the big deal because it's a little bit here and there.

I should add that I have np giving a friend $10, $20 or even more if they need it, but don't pretend you're lending it then make me feel guilty for expecting it back.

That sucks when that happens and sometimes it's easier to let it go and just forget it ever happened. You sound like a good bloke and no doubt good things will come to you.

P.S. Any chance of a loan, say $150. Cheers :thumbsu:

This is so true mate. About 15 years ago, I lent a then mate of mine about three hundred dollars. He loved the hookers and had a fiance (now wife) who was keeping tabs on his spending. That's where I came in.

Anyway, about a year later and after many attempts at getting the cash back, I made one last call. He came around and his attitude was like I'd just slammed his mother in both h****s. He hurriedly counted out the money, put it in my hand and I haven't seen him since.

There's a saying "No good deed goes unpunished".

SMS / email your bank acc. details to him if asking for cash straight up is a little uncomfortable.

walk up to him with a group of your mates and ask (or demand):thumbsu:

I like this approach. Have some mutual friends there when you ask for your money back, back him into a corner.

I don't think never lending or never asking for money is the way to go. I sometimes ask a mate for 5c, 10c, 20c, $20, whatever. And if a mate asks me, I'll usually oblige. I always pay back asap and without being asked.

If a mate won't pay back, well, I'm not backwards in coming forwards, I tend to seek confrontation, I will just ask for it back if I feel enough time has passed. If I lend someone $20 and struggle to get it back, well, he or she is obviously a mate I no longer need, and $20 was worth it to find that out.

Exactly. Unless it is like a large amount surely you wouldn't expect her to pay you back. And as long as it's not regular.

Say if you lend her 250 and then the next dinner is on her ;). Just depends really on the financial situation.

What's this BS about giving chicks money?

Women need to be independent:

So, Pavarotti knocks on the pearly gates. St. Peter opens them and says 'Oh it's you Luciano come on in. Squeeze through'.

Pavarotti says 'Hold on I've got an envelope for you from the Pope.'

St. Peter opens it up and reads it:

'HERE'S THAT TENOR I OWE YOU'

is this guy a swans player? :o:p

remember you on the swans board, claiming to be mates with some of the swan players, and that they even coined a term for a cheap-skate
