Atley
2011 - Nothing special. Played on the wing mostly, showed a couple of glimpses but in general he didn't get much of it and didn't use it well at all.
2012 - Moved to the backline to replace Brady Rawlings and add some much needed leg speed to a slow, stagnant back 6. He's been playing on the fastest opposition small forward. His best games against quality opposition came against Milne and Garlett. He's also smashed the likes of Leroy Jetta and Hams a couple of times each. He hasn't conceded more than 3 goals in a game. His worst game was against Lewis Jetta who managed 13 touches and 3 goals. His opponents average about 1.5 goals and 12 disposals against him.
He's currently averaging 19 disposals. Just about every one of them is either a ground ball get or a handball receive and sees him running (6th in the league for bounces) out of defence. He has explosive pace and his kicking has improved tenfold, to the point where it can be considered above average. His ability to combine defence and attack has transformed the NM backline.
Highlights are from Rd 13 vs Adelaide, his best offensive game.
Heppell
2011 - Played with the composure of a 200 gamer. Playing in a free wheeling role backward of centre, he demonstrated an innate ability to read the play. He averaged 21 disposals a game, made excellent decisions and used the ball exceptionally well. Finished 7th in Essendon's B&F and won the RS after playing all 22 games.
2012 - No sign of 2nd year blues. The stats are almost identical to 2011. With the Bombers injuries, he's spent a bit of time in the midfield recently and gone OK considering he's still a kid and can't match it physically with the bigger midfielders.
Highlights are compiled by BomberTV from all the games from his debut year.
