Hopefully you loud mouth fellow supporters of mine can fire up this week and get us over the line v Essendon. Im in Europe so unfortunately cannot attend, but will be trying to find somewhere I can catch the game.

I was at the Bolton v Liverpool game on the weekend in the EPL, and was simply gobsmacked at the atmosphere created inside the stadium. It was unlike anything I have ever seen at ANY AFL game in Australia. The noise being made was deafening, and all the fans are all in chorus with each other. From the time one person breaks out a chant, within 10 seconds the whole stand was joining in. Simply unbelievable. If only AAMI could be half that good, then it would certainly be a much bigger fortress!

And at a half-empty Reebok at that! The travelling Kop would have been in full force though - most jealous that you saw a win, the game I went to last season ended in a draw (Tim Cahill )

Anyway, on topic, I can't wait for Friday night, the atmosphere seems to lift a couple of notches for night games and what looks like being a packed house for a final against big, traditional opposition, it should be great. I'll make sure to scream my lungs out on your behalf...

Ill be in Seattle, not even an American Football game on, if I was at all interested

Do it for us! I'm going to email a picture of myself in Seattle with my Crows scarf to the club for enouragement, and will have it at the Penny Arcade Expo too :D

Wow a gamer eh ???

The PA comic strip is always very amusing, would be great being there. The closest I have been to anything like that was last year going to the Game On festival, E3 would be the ultimate though.

Just about to say the same thing as Cap. Still room for chants during Quarter time and 3 Quarter time breaks though. Just be so hard to start though..

Finals are a different ball game even for the crowd. The Crowd atmosphere lifts up quite a few notches, you can feel the buzz in the crowd even before the game starts.

I remember the prelim against the Eagles in 2006, before the game they had a crowd counter on the scoreboard counting the attendance in real time (it clicked over 50k before the game started), the buzz and tension in the crowd was electric, even the final against Freo was great too.

The Crows crowd certainly get into the finals though.

The Collingwood cheersquad are great at starting up the 'Collingwooood' chant. I believe someone either just starts and everyone joins in or someone waves a red flag.

They made our cheersquad look silly in last year's elimnation final.

I'm looking forward to the atmosphere on Friday night. Last time I went to a home final was 2006 (Fremantle and West Coast games) and there is no doubt the crowd lifts a notch in those games - for all sorts of reasons that we've talked about before; I think one of the biggest reasons is that the crowd is full of people who want to be there for that game vs the regular, routine fortnightly crowd (which includes me, BTW!).

A couple of experiences that I hope we can match on Friday:

Fremantle QF 2006: We were coming at Fremantle at 3Q time; the "Adder-Layde" chant started across the stadium just before 3Q time and continued throughout the break; it didn't start to die until the ball was bounced for the last quarter. It was awesome.

(That was also when Richard Douglas famously leapt off the bench with blooided nose and urged his more senior teammates into the huddle)

West Coast PF 2006: I was on the fence in the NW corner, near the visiting players' race. When the Weagles cam on to the ground and their song started playing, I suddenly thought "stuff this!" and (I am not the most outgoing guy when it comes to leading the crowd) turned around to get the crowd going. Within seconds several thousand people had joined in and we drowned out the WC song. I am quietly proud of that moment :)

I'm looking forward to this.

Wanna see AAMI rocking.

It does not get better than finals. We've got such a crowd advantage, I wanna make so much noise Monfries cries.

mmm, have u ever thought of the age difference between AFL and EPL? im pretty sure a lot of older people go to an AFL game which has a more of a relaxed atmosphere in comparison to football violence in England which would discourage them, and we all know the oldies dont do too much loud cheering. Also, you would assume having a few pints before a premier league match is more socially acceptable than in the AFL, which helps anyone get louder.

May seem that way, but if you look at the vision of EPL crowds and/or know a bit of the culture and history of English football, you'll see that (IMHO) it's not really true.

English football supporters can be just as middle-aged as AFL supporters; they don't shout and sing and chant because they're young, they do it because it's tradition.

The singing etc has nothing to do with a culture of violence, it is a tradition that has been passed on from generation to generation. In the 70s-80s at least, supporter groups would gather in pubs around a guitar to tune up their songs.

A few drinks in the shed before the game to get my vocal chords warmed up and I will be in full voice all game. I cant wait for this.
I love the roar after the national anthem in finals :thumbsu:

I forgot about the national anthem. That will be spine tingling stuff :thumbsu: Especially if there are 50,000 people there.

An ill informed comment my friend. Watch an EPL and look at the crowd. It would be a similar demographic to AFL. The singing is just the culture over there.

im not talking about the crowd, im talking about football violence after the game, its 20 times worse than Australia.
