If that caught on in a big way, and I am totally serious in saying this, we would pack out every home game we play by the time we hit AO.

Atmosphere is a huge attraction in actually attending games. I'm so sick of "PO-WA *clap clap clap*" and the like. It makes out supporters sound like simpleton, knuckle-dragging idiots. It's time to get creative.

What this guy said. Should all stop sitting with the opposition, start watching celtic games, and make Port Adelaide's supporters the best in the land again.

I've gone to a lot of games in Melbourne almost always sitting with the cheer squad for parts of the game (tickets are expensive on ground level), and I can safely say that since we beat Carlton here a long time ago, I haven't heard a single song sung other than the club's own. I know I am too lazy to do anything, but I think someone, somewhere probably should.

I was being a bit flippant. Actually the only thing bay 118 has covered is drunken screeching.

If you want to follow some organised cheering that's a little more original than "POWER" *clap clap clap* follow The Alberton Crowd. They have a facebook page and sit at the back of bay 119. A bunch of Adelaide United fans who are pretty good at what they do.

Apparently the Poznan that Man City fans do is a goer. But I'm not much of an expert with this phenomenon

There is a guy affiliated with the Cheersquad who sits in front of us, I am going to call him Rodney, who seems to find any songs/chanting that doesn't involve POWA clap-clap-clap to be disagreeable and shouts things like "it's not the soccer" whenever any noise over and above pin-drop is made.

I hope the price of crepe paper and masking tape skyrockets and he is forced to work menial tasks while the game is on.

One day I am going to help the club get 3,000 to 5,000 kids to a game, sit them in one area and get them to sing 'there's only one Johnnie Butcha' everytime he kicks a goal.

We need a theme song like liverpool never walk alone

I am throwing up stand by me as the song

Wins = People
Good footy = people
Good people = more people
Better chants and reasons to go the the game other than the footy = People

What we currently have
10ish wins in 3 years
Until recently a confusing brand of footy
A mixed bag of supporters (hard to change)
i guess you mention West Lakes shopping

As it stands, we have absolutely nothing on the guys from the back of 119. They actually manage to get a few (I'd approximate around 100 people) singing in unison. It's quite impressive for a start.

Thought it was 119 (eek) making chants/songs! Will look out for it Sunday!

Atmosphere last week was the best it's been for 5 years! Long may it continue!

Bay 119 is incredible for chants. Why people dislike it confuses me. Its amazing.

Our bay, is brilliant for hilarious calls and screaming from a certain warrior.

It was great to watch the fans last week. I like to sit back and observe people, so when we were winning I was watching the crowd. First time in awhile there seemed to be joy throughout the game. That's what brings people in, it's infectious (stating the obvious I know), so hopefully this will get more of our "softer" fans to take notice and show up. Hopefully unrealistic expectations won't be served though as beating Hawthorn would still be an upset.

I have said for years the the AFL crowds are pathetic compared to how good they could be. I loved what Andrew Bogut did in the NBA where he bought a whole section of tickets and called them "Squad 6" and the criteria to being able to use those free tickets was that they had to dress, and cheer like crazy all game long. It ended up being infectious and had a great impact on their home crowds and atmosphere overall

you boys over in 118/119 keep fighting the good fight - you boys have the right idea, would be great to see it grow and even formalise into something bigger that even the club or a player might support in a similar way as Bogut did and donate tickets in that same section to underprivaledged yet enthusiastic fans.

Would love to see more of a soccer or 20/20 cricket type atmosphere to AFL crowds in general.....

Its pretty humorous to be honest,
We are a pretty good bunch of lads, yet after each game this year we have been almost at war against other supporters as they have had goes at us for chanting, celebrating etc.
Calls like "This isn't the bloody soccer" and what ever is ridiculous. The looks we get from the cheer squad members below us, is ridiculous.
Im all for it, and I am more than happy to have no voice come Monday (I still havn't got a voice from Saturday) to express my love for Benny Jacobs and Le Kano Cornes. Bay 118 and 119 have the best vibe I have felt at the Footy in years.
The amount of man love in these bays is incrediblz.
Renouf, Renouf, Renouf is in Fire.
Who let BrogDog out, who? who? who? who?

i'm going to make a song revolving around "you wish you had 18 hartlett's" i promise it will be huge by seasons end

I actually think you should suggest to the club that there be a dedicated bay for it. Basically if you buy a ticket there you are expected to dress up, yell loud and sing songs.

If you buy a ticket next to it then you have to deal with it.

If you sit elsewhere you can just enjoy it from afar.

They will just have to be careful about making sure there are rules about what can and can't be done. You don't want to be seen to be endorsing hooliganism.

I think the club might have already done this to an extent. Bay 119 is called the 'Active Supporters Bay' and is the reason why the Alberton Crowd and the cheersquad sit there. That designation is as far as it goes though, it could be elaborated a bit.

I want to see a bay where opposition supporters aren't allowed to be, or something similar.

The worst thing in footy are the flogs who sit in the cheersquad of the opposition and start fights.

watched the game on tv because my daughter was sick. It reminded me of the good ol days when we were winning. It also reminded me that a Port crowd makes more noise than a Crows crowd, (generally speaking).
