Roddick has become the most defensive player in tennis history. I'd love to have a chat to him and ask him why he's become like this, and what he honestly expects to achieve from now to retirement with his current approach to tennis.

I really dont understand all the hype around Dimitrov.

Harrison up 6-3 4-0. So its looking like Ebden might take on Harrison which would be awesome and a great chance for Matty.:thumbsu:

It's because his technique is basically Federer's all over, serve, forehand backhand, it's uncanny. But still needs a lot of work before he can get to higher levels of the game.

Drummond, it puzzles the heck out of me too, and then occasionally he does actually play more aggressive and it gets him good results ala Ferrer at the US open and then just goes back into his shell. I think it's just permantly stuck there because that is what he is comfortable with and he is so used to it now.

Is Roddick still with Stepanki? Because it was he who changed Roccick's gamestyle. In fact it might have even been the coach previous to that. There was a definite point though that Roddick went from being an aggressive baseliner to a defensive baseline player.

This is the first time I have seen Dimitrov and I am impressed so far. Definitely a bit of Federer in there, has he had any big results yet?

Yeah, Roddick is still with Larry. I don't think that's the issue, he's been through plenty of coaches, remember he short stint with Connors that never worked. Although, the one thing Larry made Roddick do when they started was to lose a few kilos to help him compete and get to more balls, which it certainly helped. Anyway, Roddick had issues with being too defensive before Stefanki.

And Roddick was playing aggresive tennis when he was in great patch when he won Miami in 2010 which was borderline sexy tennis....

So Tomic just blitzed Fish 6-1 in the second set. I suspect Fish will hit back strongly, but that's a fair effort.

2nd career top 10 win for Bernie, great effort! Hit a lot of his shots with precision and served well which was key as it made his service games quite quick. Fish fell apart in the 2nd set and was in a grumpy mood for most of the match. Certainly wasn't Fish's best match this season.

A match with Dolgopolov in the 3rd round is possible, could possibly be a contender for the most confusing matchup in the history of the game.

Maybe I'm getting a bit excited, but does anyone think Bernie can snag a seeding by AO? he's currently about 300 poimts off rank 32, and has some time to string together a few good tornies. C'arn Bern!

I am not sure on Tomic's schedule but it would be a great achievement if he can manage a seed at the AO. But I am sure that he is more than happy with where his ranking is at the moment. Probably above what he and his team expected.

Ebden up a break in the 2nd set. Hopefully he can win 2 more games. A spot in the top 100 would be fantastic.

So happy for Ebden! Two Aussies into the main draw of AO which frees up a WC that Ebden would have got. :thumbsu:

2 Aussie men into the third round of a Masters 100 event!

Pretty surprised he won that so easily, didn't see it as it wasn't on a tv court but that is a great performance, he would of had to known the consquences of winning the match. Direct entry into the Australian Open is looking good now as he doesn't have too many points coming off, although as far as I know, a challenger in Seoul is his only tournament remaining this season.

Simon will be a good test for him.

Nishikori just knocked Tsonga out of the tournament. He played pretty well, but really, Tsonga should be winning these types of matches. 45 UEs for Tsonga as well.

This potentially opens up the draw for Tomic as well. If he beats Dolgopolov, he'll face either Giraldo or Nishikori in the quarters.

Dolgopolov is an interesting matchup for Tomic, both hit the ball very unqiuely and Tomic has been beaten by him before, it really is almost an impossible one to predict as you don't know what either player are going to come up with on the day, on form Tomic has a huge shot. And then Giraldo is certainly beatable, I actually do like that matchup for Tomic. Nishikori is an interesting one, he doesn't have any huge weapons but he's a fighter and he plays the court extreme well, I was very impressed with some of the tactics shown for Nishikori in that Tsonga match, Tsonga might of hit a few too many errors but Kei played smart tennis.

But I wouldn't be predicting this Tomic/Dolgopolov match....

Giraldo has been in pretty good form as of late. Watched him vs Nadal in Tokyo he played pretty good. Also beat Haase and Melzer this week.

Coverage starts today at 3:30PM on ESPN2 and then at 5:00PM changes to ESPN. Hopfully they show Tomic first up since he is on Grandstand.

Hows everyones draws going by the way? I am going really good coming 23rd and on 38 points. Hope i can stay up there. I have the top 4 seeds to reach the semis and Nadal Def Murray in the final.

Ebden saves five break points throughout the first set to take it 6-2. Massive massive chance here.
