To anyone who heard on 5aa the other day, Phil Harper mentioned that the latest Auskick figures show that on a two team preferred basis, the AFC has gone up to 72% support in comparison to port powers 28%. This is up on the high 60's percentage last yr. The results came from a survey that tested about 8,000 youngsters.
Looking at these figures it is quite amazing that bolton or williams continue to say that they are gaining support from the youngsters, when in fact the evidence shows they are losing support. It must also be disheartening to the port administration when they've appeared on face value at least to put so much effort into corrupting the young and yet they are still not succeeding. This is of course good news for the state.
I dont think i would be too naive in suggesting that we should expect this gap to widen even further in further yrs, taking into account the contrasting fortunes of our two clubs on field. Well done to the club.
