Well blow me down. I must admit I was convinced that the Australian team was full of hacks - I mean, there have been a lot of posts on this board saying so-and-so is a hack, and gee they sounded convincing. I was right on the verge of dialling up the ACB and pointing out a few things to them.

But then I read Suzi's post. I've seen the light.

Boy do I feel like a fool.

Thank you Suzi. You're absolutely right. If they were hacks they wouldn't be playing for Australia. How could I have overlooked that?

We could all take a leaf out of Suzi's book. She puts it so simply. In fact, I don't think I've ever known anyone as simple as Suzi.

Bloody hell I remember him & Warne running through us on a few occasions?So if he's a hack what does it say about English batsmen?(Really, please don't answer that).

Actually I never thought he was that good but in hindsight if he was English he'd be our best spin bowler for about 25 years (Derek Underwood).

You're right Dipper, May was no hack. He was a handy offie who was more than useful foil for Shane Warne.

I was reading back over the 1993 series a while ago... and something I found quite amusing was that the English papers at the start of the series thought they had the superior spin attack with Phil Tufnell and Peter Such!

Yeah that sounds frighteningly familiar, I'm currently reading Mike Atherton's book, which is a surprsingly good read considering he was a pretty dull batsmen & not exactly a hell raiser (I think it's good because he wrote it all rather than it being ghost written) anyway on an England tour to India in about 92/93 he said that the team were overly confident & Neil Fairbrother said to him 'I hope they prepare turning wickets because Tuffers & Embers will run through them', needless to say that we lost the series 3 nil & Tuffers & Embers didn't run through them, in fact Tuffers was dropped & Sidhu took a particular liking to Emburey & smashed him all over the park.Meanwhile the Indian spinners destroyed us.

It's hard to credit where this sort of blind confidence comes from.
