When played like we played it in the last quarter.

You have a key forward with smaller guys around him, solid backline and mids that are prepared to move the ball forward (by kick or handball) at all costs.

This style of Football won Brisbane three flags and Geelong two of last three. It holds up under pressure, but you have to have the cattle to go through with it.

We saw how well it worked against Port in first half, and again last night in final quarter.

However one thing that does not help, is having blokes in the forward line ruin the good work by kicking poorly.

KICK IT!

MAN UP!

Sorry, couldn't help it :)

Not quite as simple as that. But constant forward movement of the ball.

We had some brilliant passages of play with attacking handball last night. Cut the u-turns out, but to do so the players ahead need to be moving forward as well, not standing still.

There is also a need for zones. Our work in turning the ball over against Richmond's kick outs was pretty good.

The thing that lacked up until the last quarter was how the zone ran they're ass off to man the mark, ran hard at the player with the ball etc.

We'd previously been dordelling over or have arsing between attacking the carrier and dropping back to stop the 'over the top'.

I agree, we got a spark and Craigy's game plan fell into piece.

Now need to bring it Q1 next week.

I think what we did well in the last quarter was use handball correctly. My theory on handball is, it should be used as a last resort, or as an offensive move. The problem I find with the crows is often they handpass backwards, short, or to someone who isn't moving/under pressure. In the last quarter they often got a lengthy handball wide to someone in space who was moving, or they gave the give to a player running foward who broke through the lines. This is what they did last year....I don't know why it has been missing this year?

If we win next week with the same sort of flair then I'll concede that we've "sparked". It looked more like Richmond fell to pieces rather than us playing well. Whether that had anything to do with our pressure I'm not sure but we have to play like we did in that last quarter next week other wise we'll be 1 and 7.

I thought we had turned the corner with the Port game, but the first 3 quarters last night were absolutely shocking. We were back to our absolute worst. Thinking about the way we were playing late last season to what we saw last night, what the hell happened over summer?
