Anyone who seriously thinks Matthew Elliott has even a remote chance of making the squad is dreaming.

Also, if I were the selectors I would be inclined to drop Mark Waugh as well. You all know what I think of him in general, but quite apart from all the controversy I honestly think it's time that some of these more senior players are stood down to make way for the younger ones. Mark Waugh, at 35, is really only keeping a youngster out of the squad - its time to move on.

In the same fashion, I would very surprised if Lehmann and Blewitt were also called up.

Also I would favour McGill over Miller anyday as not only is MacGill younger, he is a better bowler and a nicer guy than Miller who appears to be a total w***er at times ...

But then again, being a total w***er seems to be almost a requirement to get in the team these days ...

cheers

BSA i know your post must have been tongue in cheek,. Firstly i believe Elliott will tour but not at the expense of Hayden. What are our other options as back up specialist openers? Secondly, as long as Mark Waugh is cleared of this enquiry hes going through of course hes done enough to tour, unless he voluntary retires. To suggest regardless of form you should step aside an let 'youngsters' have a go is just ludicrous. What 'youngsters' deserve to push him out of the side? Last of all you gave me the biggest laugh with McGILL is the nice bloke every loves and mean Mr Miller scares the kids. What planet beamed that info down to you? McGILL is always bad tempered (have we already forgotten the incident with Sarwan?) if a fielder misfields off his bowling his body language and for those who can lip read his reaction is childish. Miller is truly a nice guy, a bit eccentric granted, but you have to admire the way at a delicate age for a cricketer he has reinvented himself and become this countries leading offbreak bowler. I have met funky and a nicer more genuine bloke you cant come across.
Anyway BSA i do respect most of your postings so i assume you were just pulling my leg with this one

I totally agree BUBBA, BSA must have been joking because MacGill is the complete w***er, Miller is a pretty good bloke, a least from a spectator's vantage point. MacGill is very bad tempered while Miller seems more laidback.

In the good old days, you'd pick

3 openers
2 keepers
4 pace
2 spinners
hopefully an all rounder
and the rest batsmen.

These days stack the county teams with Aussies so that they can be called up.

Also you' pick one, possibly two , up and comers ( Les Joslin , Jim Higgs, etc ) but these days they have to have a contract. I think they'll go for Bracken ( due the pace injury list ) and maybe Harvey.
