12th man will be a Taswegian

Some surprises in the bowling line-up. What more does Inness have to do?

Yep, Inness is out.

I'm happy with the side from a Victorian perspective, would have liked to have seen Jon Moss given a run, but i can't be greedy.

Only surprise is Nicholson, surely there are guys ahead of him.

This side's pretty clear cut IMO:

Only ones who weren't certainties:
Rogers (Dighton)
Seccombe (Clingeleffer)
Tait (Lewis or an all rounder - Carseldine, Moss)

I assume Noffke isn't considered fit enough yet?

eh?

I know it's minor, but why is Clarke vc? White actually Captain's his side...

Otherwise it's not too bad. Poor bloody Inness, and what the **** is with Nicholson? He's ****house.

White probably isn't ready to captain Victoria and is being groomed for the future of Victorian cricket.

IMO Clarke is a future Australia cricket captain, and will probably replace Ponting when he goes out. Thats a big call, but he is heading in that direction.

Giving him the VC job is just a set forward towards the future (not to mention that Clarke is a better cricketer than White....)

I didn't even realise Nicholson is in the side. If he gets to play before Damien Wright then I will personally hunt down each of the selectors.....

EDIT: Just realised that that list is of 11 players...I'm up with it now.

Good on Hussey getting the captaincy. Rogers has earned his selection (as a west aussie Im stoked), but is he the next best opening option in the land?

Clarke VC - yet another step on the inevitable road to stardom for the ACB lovechild. Im sure the selectors have already planned the day when he takes over the test captaincy from Ponting.

Nicholson - obviously still very much in the frame for the Test side. When he gets it together he's pretty much what they are looking for I would think - tall, fast, aggressive. When he gets it together that is.

Nooooo. Damien Wright should be actually playing. He deserves it.
The 12th man won't come the eleven that's listed. ;)

Is this AA side for a one-day match or 4-day match?
The 4-day match against India next week.

Pretty good side given the players that are available.

Marcus North would've thought he may have been half a chance, but its hard to displace the Love, Clarke or Hodge.

Shane Watson must have been half a chance as well, although i can't say i've kept much of an eye on his form.

Inness would have been in the eye of the selectors mind for this long

Then out again

Wrong!

He was in there lock, stock and barrel until being diagnosed with glandular fever, so the naming of ****knuckle Nicholson is the replacement.

Viper10... Wright is named in the 11.

Yeah thanks...I didn't count amount in the team DaveW posted, and assumed that there were actually 12 there, with Dave making a sly remark by saying that a taswegian would be 12th man...going by the fact that I could only see one tassie player out of the list that I thought was 12, I thought Damien Wright would be named 12th...but obviously he is actually in the team.

Didn't realise it was down in Tassie either, so that is obviously why the 12th man will be tassie.

Thanks Dave...I have now worked that out!

Don't forget that he's still unable to bowl, which means he'd only be in as a batsman.

ahhh that's right.

He has scored a few runs though this year.

I'd say he's a near certainty to be 12th man for the match. perhaps DIghton....

I'd say that they would rather have a hit in club cricket, and have someone from a club ( Probably Clarence, as it is held on their home ground ) to come and have a field while the club is batting - Mason, Tubb, Harris, Dykes all spring to mind.

Would be surprised - not shocked or dismayed, just surprised if a 12th man stays with the team all week.;)

They better bloody not make Watson or Dighton 12th man, we are playing NSW in Sydney. I'm pretty sure, or at least hope, that they usually rope in a district cricketer.
