How sweet it is very very large task in front of them to make the finals.
Knock the arrogant team down a few pegs.

Warne overrated hack that he is got smacked all round the park.

If the lossed continue, I think that Australia may be heading towards a similar situation they did in 1997 when their poor performances led to Healy and Taylor being given the flick from the one-day side and a new era beginning. The Waughs are the obvious candidates for getting the same treatment but will it happen?

Oh well,
sh*t happens.

It does no harm to be on the other end of the result for awhile.
LOL I love Bill Lawry's commentating in the final overs. Sounds like he is going to blow his load when there is a big shot or a wicket falls. And add his little high-pitched little laugh when there is a mix up or something unpredctable happens, and you have 100% Lawry! :D

LOL :D :D . Yeah, gotta to love his over-the-top voice. Wouldn't have it anyway else. Classic stuff

yeah, our form is a real concern...

Am I alone in thinking that we cannot sustain both Waugh's in the one day team any longer?

Our fifth bowling option is proving to be very weak and our batting is brittle. I thought our tail was way too long today.

Also think Harvey is a dud...

BTW, how much fatter can Warney get?:D

I think the team needs a few changes the batting needs to made stronger the tail is too long and can't be expected to make too many runs. Harvey's batting isn't strong enough to be the all-rounder especially his dismissal tonight.

I was thinking the other day after the debacle about splitting the two teams that they were coming back to similar players in each side. Maybe the sides need to be different with most of this side maybe expecting the series to be easy after the clean sweep of the South Africans.

The best thing Australia can do at the moment is take a step back, take a look at whats wrong, and just forget everything that has happened and start again.

If they win their last five games, they can't miss the finals, and if they win four of the last five then it is unlikely they will miss, so they are still in it.

And given the reputation the team has, they are more than capable of doing that.

I think this may be the beginning of the end for the "old regulars" in the Aussie one day team. Australia have by far the most talented players in the world, all the selectors have to do is put form in front of reputation. Give Katich, Lehmann and co. a shot. Heck, the Australia A squad won their one dayers, surely there's something in that?

Taylor was quickly outed from the one day game when this split team policy came in. Its about time the selectors favourite Steve Waugh got the same. And Mark Waugh...why was Hayden dropped and Waugh reinstated??

And how on earth did that umpire not give Gillespie out LBW...the most straight forward LBW in the history of the game

Thats a joke isn't it.

The prodical son will never be dropped

By the way, will New Zealand please give the Australian's back their shirts?

i find it amazing that in the tests both hayden and langer put on a century stand practically everytime.my question is what is so different from tests to onedayers? both players succeeded in going after the bowling similar to what you would do in the one dayers.i say bring them both in and see what happens.
this would allow gilly to drop down to the middle order to provide the team with someone from the middle order who can actually hit the dam ball out of the ground with ease which is one of the reasons why we are getting done at the momment.
while i admire gillespie after what he has been thru he should be replaced by someone who can at least swing the bat.the brad williams selection while it may have suprised a few was a great idea.
my lineup
langer
hayden
ponting
bevan
s.waugh
gilcrist
s.lee
warne
b.lee
williams
mcgrath
in:langer and hayden[see above]
s.lee no other options
williams[see above]

out:

m.waugh:time has come has lost his magic with the bat!
harvey:has had enough chances to cement his place in the side however last nights dismissal will go down as one of the softest in the history of cricket from a player with so much talent.
campbell:gilly is back.but i was impressed with his keeping.
gillespie:see above.

cheers!

Horrible capitulation from the Aussies yet again.

Harvey is a dud...get rid of him. M. Waugh needs to start scoring soon, he was a bit unlucky being run out before he got a chance to get going. Martyn just doesn't look in very good form either, very unlucky run out this one...probably could be replaced with Lehmann. I like the idea of Williams in the side as it would give Gillespie a bit of rest as he is injury prone, the only problem I can see is that he is too similar to B. Lee in bowling style and it might make our bowling too one-dimentional if they played side-by-side. If you want swing then perhaps a genuine swing bowler would be a better option....

I can't see the Aussies playing this badly again....:o

Did anyone see the best cover drive of the whole summer last night?

Dizzy Gillespie, you little beauty!! :):)

No need to panic just yet, but I don't think Damien Martyn is playing in the right batting spot in this form of the game.

Shane Lee isn't playing at the moment because he has a dickie knee, otherwise he would be in the side.
I wonder if they might pull a suprise & bring in Watson from Tassie to play as the allrounder.
Both Waughs should stepdown.

Mark Waugh must be just about due to make his annual century just to cement his place in the side for another year and stick it up us knockers.

We had the Kiwis ties down early, the Brett Lee came on and let them off the hook. He's quick and fantastic for the Tests, but he's a bit expensive in the one-dayers.
I think Hayden and Langer have to be brought in to open. Gilchrist should bat down the order - but Hayden and Langer did the job in the Test series, usually at better than 4 an over, and I'd like to see them given a go opening in the one-dayers. Mark Waugh and Martyn should go to make way for them.

dickie knee or not he,s from nsw:D
cheers!

Harvey has done a reasonable job as the 5th bowler, I don't think he's the problem. It's the top order batting.

My side:

Hayden
Gilchrist
Ponting
Martyn
Lehmann
Bevan
Harvey
Warne
Bichel/Fleming
Gillespie
McGrath

Lee has to go, consistantly too expensive without taking the wickets to justify it.

Mr Waugh needs to find some runs. Yes, both of them.

We need to p|ss off the rotation system, it's arrogant and it isn't working.

rsssp, rsssp, rsssp.

Ahhhh.......Confidence

It is a powerful commodity.

When one does not have it, it shows.

People could call it arrogance, but I would not call Australia arrogant at the moment because they lack confidence. They are a little lost at the moment.

All it will take is to have a couple of boys come out and hit the opposition around the ground.......but who will it be?
