Australia needs to give joint captaincy to the Waugh twins, that way Mark Waugh can really get into his element and start taking on those NZ bowlers

Who wouldve thought at the beginning of this summer that we'd be getting thrashed by the Kiwis??

The interesting thing is that NZ could finish 4 games ahead of Australia .
Then the pressure would be on NZ not to stumble in the finals & be known as the "Chokers" [or "Chuckers" in NZ :p ]

Indeed Jubby :D
We all know about New Zealand's 'stumbling at the line.'

The way they have been carrying on, you would of thought that they have won it.

Its far from over my trans-tasman friends. :D

There are some factors that need considering

1) I believe Australian players are under-rating NZ. Too many rash shots before getting the eye in.
2) Cairns' knock yesterday suggested that it was a good idea to go over the top in the first 15 overs when only two players werte out in the deep...wrong
3) The ball swung for the kiwi's, Not the Aussies. Rain was forecast and it was hot and cloudy. My betting is that at 6:40 the temperature had dropped, humidity risen and this caused the swing.
4) Shane Bond is proving to be a top bowler. Second only to McGrath in the competition.
5) Symonds has no confidence, He is not hitting through the ball and his bowling favours the leg side. Not good in one day matches with a 7/2 or 6/3 field. Drop him. It may even be worth playing a 5th Bowler...wayward Lee.
6) Winning the toss has been crucial.
7) Flemmings tactics have been good, Buchanan needs to work out the solutions.
8) 'If' we make the finals I predict we will murder the Kiwi's

Still like to see us bat first in a match:cool:

Besides, all we need to do is make the finals, then it's 0-0, and we all know how often NZ beat Australia for the series...

Agree with most of this...but why would you play Lee instead of Harvey?

Believe it or not FR, I would play Harvey before Lee. Lee is a fine test bowler, but needs the test arena to shine. He is not suited to ODIs.

NZ's tactics against Australia have been first-rate. Block out McGrath for 10-15 overs then slam Warne and the rest. Perhaps the Aussiesshould try Bichel and Gillespie to open and then bring McGrath on after the 15th to try and muck-up NZ's plans a little. No good having McGrath bowling when he is, he is needed much more in the middle overs.....
