I was at the match It was an excellent match with great quality tennis produced by both. Gasquet had a match point in the 3rd set and he really struggled with an injury from the 3rd set onwards. The atmosphere was electric and the Chilean supporters are brilliant, their chants are so good. At one stage, after being annoyed at the constant supporting of Gonzalez, Gasquet flicked the bird at the Chilean supporters.

I am annoyed cos I put some money on Gasquet, but am happy to have witnessed the best match of AO 2009 so far.

No chance IMO. Nadal will finish him off in 3 sets easily. He could be fatigued too... even if he wasnt... nadal wont lose this.

its funny our major is best suproted major in tennis. you see the sweedes and dutch and co suporting like crazy. any other mjor like the french or the old england club. you can barely hear a yahoo

I couldn't watch this match though unfortunately.

Two of the greatest games I've ever seen are Roddick - El Aynauoi at the Aust Open in 2003, and Nadal - Federer at Wimbledon in 2008.

Gotta love the Australian Open though. Fantastic atmosphere, and an open that in my opinion would shit on wimbledon if wimbledon didn't have the tradition/prestige associated with its name (nothing to do with debating the surfaces).

Unbelievably good match.
Both hit 80 winners and only 50 errors.

I was also lucky enough to be there.

What a match, a fantastic battle and the crowd was just incredible. Was going for Gasquet to try and even up the support a fraction but there's no way you can leave dissapointed after a contest like that. Not bad getting to see that for the cost of a ground pass too!
