What, did you bludge your way through your HSC? :D ;)

I did actually. And I probably regret it a little as I don't have as good of a result as I would liked to have had. Not for going for jobs, but just to know myself that I had achieved something.

My point here is, that study isn't that much when you're in school. Other than that you really have no other responsibilties. You dont have to worry about money (beside how you spend it  ) paying rent, paying bills, keeping cars on the road.

The real world is a harder life than you think ...

Actually I prefer it now to when I was at school. I'm certianly glad I don't have to go through schol & Uni anymore. I reckon it's much better now that I'm working & getting paid so I can do whatever I like.

It would be, I hate school so much and geez I'd do anything to get out of it, but I promised mum and dad I wouldn't drop out and that I'd go all the way to grade.12 for there sakes and for my future.

Become a pro I mean a professional and your life will be set :p

like someone already said.. when u get into the higher grades of school u realise that u dont hate it so much & you get to pick more of the subjects that u want to do & have more freedom... so youenjoy it & the time flies.... i finihsed grade 12 last year....& it iasnt as hard as everyone says it is... if you went good in grade 11 you will fly through grade 12......just work thorugh senior school like you are nearlly into uni.. coz then.. u may get a timetable like mine.. when u only have to go for part days 3 days a week & that is full time.. its cheerin.. i cant wait until i start..........& yeah everyone will eventually feel the strain that working for a living means... like i have not even seen my best school friends since we finsihed in november coz we live an hour train trip away & i have just been working too much... saving to go to uni & all the other associated costs... plus all the other things you need for normal life like food & board.........we just must remember that problems are just things sent to try us & to make us stronger...

good luck to everyone for 2003 regardless of what they are doing!

And what may I ask do you propose you would be doing at this stage of your life if there was no school?

Her voice is echoed in my mind
I count the days till she is mine
Can’t tell my friends cos they will laugh
I love a member of the staff

I fight my way to front of class
To get the best view of her ass
I drop a pencil on the floor
She bends down and shows me more….

That’s what I go to school for
Even though it is a real bore
You can call me crazy
I know that she craves me
That’s what I go to school for
Even though it is a real bore
Girlfriends I’ve had plenty
None like Miss Mackenzie
That’s what I go to school for
That’s what I go to school for

So she may be thirty-three
But that doesn’t bother me
Her boyfriends working out of town
I find a reason to go round

I climb a tree outside her home
To make sure she is all alone
I see her in her underwear
I can’t help but stop and stare

Everyone that u teach all day knows your looking at me in a different way
I guess that's why my marks are getting so high
I can see those tell tale signs telling me that I was on your mind
I could see that you want it more when you told me that I’m what you go to school for
I’m what you go to school for

She’s packed her bag its in the trunk
Looks like she’s picked herself a hunk
We drive past school to say goodbye
My friends they can’t believe their eyes….

That’s what I go to school for...

Oh, how I sympathise. So much of what is taught at school is so useless. How much better it would be if you could pursue interests which actually interested you. You might actually develop an interest in learning for its own sake. They are trying to turn out clones who know the same thing - nothing, about a lot of things. But the products of the system have to wait until at least the second year of uni. to do anything in which they have any interest at all. That's 13 or 14 years. You don't get that long for murder.

All of the attitudes which rebel against this system of mindless conformity are doomed. Given time, you will all see John Howard and George W. Bush as role models, if you allow youselves to be 'snowed'.

Mates, continue to rebel, but play the system. Use them, don't allow the reverse. Don't forget their generation, and mine, need you, much more than you need them.

Confession: I left school in 1965. I vowed then I'd never forget what it was like to be a youth. These mothers have never known what it was to be young, because they were never 'there'.

The education system I endured doesn't seem very different to the one you are putting up with. For a while there, I was very disappointed about how the system had prepared me for life in the 'real world'.

Then I worked out that the ones who do something in this life are those who are individuals whom the system can't dominate. If it's important to you, this is also a good qualification to be successful in just about any endeavour you undertake. Don't let 'em beat it out of you.

Actually, no, it's not.

Because we have people tell us that pretty much everyday. They tell us how hard the REAL WORLD is and basically everything else you said. (sorry, I can only speak for myself, not the others)

We know it's going to be **** that we have to get a job, pay bills/tax/petrol/rent and deal with banks and all of that jazz.

I think it's going to be hard. Harder than you think I think!

Does anyone understand me?

I don't HATE school. I despise the workload and the ****s you have to see everyday but other than that, the little responsibility is good. I'm in year 11 this year, my first year in upper school. I get the feeling that the end is so close, but so far away at the same time so I kinda don't know what to think. But I do think I've had enough pathetic ranting for the night. Cheers.

the best thing about school: hanging out with your mates all day and then finishing at 3:30.

the best thing about the working world: finishing at 5:30 then going down the pub with your mates. :D

What a life to lead. Education is almost vital - to some extent - to get ahead in life, and lounging around all year won't get you too far.

I dislike school as much as the next person, but going into year 12, I know I have to take things seriously. You'll realise one day.

im going into yr 11, and i know exactly what you mean. personally, i need a high enter score when the time comes, yet i cant seem to get my arse to do anything! i do get good marks, but not nearly as good as i need - which would be from the lack of work i do!

im just hoping that the seriousness of the next 2 yrs will help push me to actually do my best!
